Inspiring Conversations with Troynisha Walker of Tulip’s Bomb Body Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troynisha Walker.

Hi Troynisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It started in 2018 in our one bedroom apartment (my husband and I). I can remember being so agitated with my skin and it’s conditions the fact that I kept spending money on products I thought would work and thought what the doctor recommended would work, but I soon realized that it didn’t work for me. I mean from having dry, sensitive, troubled skin, nothing OTC or prescribed would work, or it would work for a couple of months and then my skin would revert back to its old ways. I remember telling my husband, “I am going to make my own body butter for my skin. I am no longer going to spend money on what doesn’t actually help or heal my skin.” I remember I posted on my social media pages of my skin health progress. I then started to share me making body butter and other products I was creating (for personal use) and kid you not, people messaged me asking how much I was selling it for and how can they be purchased! I was taken back because there I was simply creating products that I needed, all while other people are needing and wanting what I created as well.

At that moment is when I discovered my love for creating Bomb products that can be used by anyone, anywhere. I received feedback from my body butters that I gave away or sold for a small fee, everybody loved them and continued to come back for more and more. Not only did these products help my husband and myself these products are also helping others. I knew I had to continue to Give to my bombers. The things that takes me back till this day is that people trusted me and allowed me to hand-make all-natural products that made people feel Bomb in their skin. That alone warmed my heart. I continued to study and learn about herbal and holistic healing. It’s BIGGER than me!

Late 2018 I remember being on Christmas break and my husband and I were traveling. I told him, “babe I really want to make bomb butters a business and give 100% and go full throttle”. We had no real/legit business name. We were going off of what we had been calling them for ourselves. All I knew is that it was time for me to take “Tulip’s Bomb butters” seriously. My husband who is the CFO helped me plan, prepare and take the needed steps to execute. Over the next couple weeks We ordered skincare and body care books read and researched how to start and run a business, what jars do To use for specific products, materials, websites, carrier oils and essential oils, recipes, labeling, vendors and the list goes on. I mean, talk about long nights early mornings was a real thing for us for at least two months. Visions from God, thoughts and ideas kept filling my brain over the next weeks and everyday I found myself informing my husband on what I wanted or seen for the new business.

2019 our business picked up tremendously and not only were we a functioning business we also had a website FINALLY. Now I say this with the humblest heart, When we first started our business everything from placing orders, sending emails, shipping, phone calls and texts, were all done manually inputed by phone, email or some tracking system we kept for our records. We literally had to start somewhere and we used the resources that we had. We had no system to track orders, shipping updates, inventory, etc. Once our website went live and was accessible to everyone all around the world it was on from there. Our clientele grew larger, we had consisted orders, and everything was tracked. We continued to produce Bomb products that can be used by anyone, anywhere.

2020 was a hard year for everyone, we were hit with a worldwide pandemic, social injustices and more that slowed down our business. I did not get discouraged instead, I used it as fuel to continue to press forward and keep going. While being in a pandemic Tulip’s Bomb Body Care shipped our first international order, we hit our sales goals 11 out of 12 months, we made our first 10k and we continue to inspire and heal our Bomb squad from the inside out all across the world. Shall I say it’s 2021 and the rest is still in works. I don’t know what this year will hold but I want to thank God for giving me the Vision and myself for having the faith, trusting God and executing the plan. This is not where we end we are just getting started and want to thank our Bomb Squad for the continued love and support you guys show us daily, y’all are the bomb.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Tulip’s Bomb Body Care wouldn’t be who we are if it weren’t for the lessons along the way that helped us grow into the successful business and brand we are today. Each challenge that arose we as a business faced we used to our advantage, problem solved and learned from. Each obstacle was all lessons that had to be learned in order for us to grow, elevate and fully understand what it means to be an entrepreneur/business owner. Myself and my CFO who is my husband had the opportunity to gain specific leadership skills, personal growth/self-improvement, Time management skills, and better communication. When we launched our business, we were both working FT job and Newley weds. Running a business, long nights, early mornings were something foreign for us. We overcame and became aware of what was needed and what to focus our attention on. I am inspired by all the challenges and life lessons we faced and will continue to face as we reach new levels. Challenges help and contribute to our growth.

We’ve been impressed with Tulip’s Bomb Body Care, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Tulip’s Bomb Body Care (body care products) and Tulip’s Bomb Aesthetics (body care services). I have my bachelor’s degree in sociology criminal justice and my master’s degree in human service counseling in criminal justice. I am an entrepreneur, businesswoman, body care specialist, self-care advocate and all-around inspiration to many. I believe in healing from the inside out. I combine my counseling and social work expertise with my superpowers to heal, empower, inspire my bombers to love and put themself first, also to love and embrace their natural skin and beauty God created them in. I currently work FT as a social worker for the homeless population with severe mental illnesses, disabilities and substance abuse. I have been in the social work field for ten years and love what I do and the clients that I get to connect, engage and advocate for. I am most proud of myself for my strength and resiliency. I never gave up no matter what I was dealt with in life. I had an absent mother and father growing up, spent most of my younger years in and out of foster homes, juvenile centers, abused and the list goes on.

Since birth, I had to fight for my life and as I got older, I found myself Fighting (mentally, spiritually, emotionally, financially) in situations where I had no choice but to heal, thrive and survive. I call those situations seasons. Everything I have gone through in life has prepared and developed me into the woman I am today. I turned my mess into a message, my pain into purpose, my fears into faith and my struggles into strength. I used those lessons as fuel to guide me, keep going and to never make the same mistake happen again. My past does not define or control me. I am me, I am bold, I am true. What sets me apart from others is simple. ME! I live my life to live MY LIFE FOR ME MYSELF AND GOD. There will never be another Tulip. I stay in my own lane, do what speaks to my soul and makes my heart happy and full. God created me differently for a reason and I know his plans for my life are beyond greater than what I can phantom. I have superpowers that activate when they need to. I can walk through fire and not get burned. Did I mentions I’m God’s favorite! That alone is what sets me apart. My life is designed for me and only me. I am perfectly happy and in love with every part of the woman I am and becoming.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me are a couple of things. First is being grateful alone for my life and for living. Everyday I wake up I’m grateful that God gave me another chance to breathe and live life. What matters is that in a life that is specifically designed for me, a joyous, peaceful, memorable, loving, traveling, freedom filled secured life that I deserve. I want to fulfill and live out my God-given purpose here in this world, to follow my dreams, and go after everything my heart desires and everything God promised me, lastly, to be a blessing to others and to give. I love helping others, I want to empower, inspire and encourage people that no matter what challenges and setbacks they face in life you can and will overcome them. What matters is being whole, happy and healthy from the inside out. I take pride in self-care and taking care of my mind, body and soul so I am able to not only give to myself but to my husband and the world. This is what matters and a key part of life and living, What matters is being love and light!
