Today we’d like to introduce you to Angeline Pedrosa.
Hi Angeline, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started my career in New York City over 12 years ago, being a native-born and raised New Yorker, I grew up in the northern section of Manhattan and at a young age I was exposed to all things beauty and fashion. I remember being 5 years old playing dress-up with my mother’s shoes, jewelry, and of course makeup. I was completely obsessed with makeup and I wanted to look like the gorgeous supermodels I would see in magazines and billboards all over NYC. I eventually went to college for graphic design and realized years later I was not cut out for the corporate world and needed a career in which my artistic and independence needs were met and so I eventually changed careers.
The change in career really came about as a reality when I would go out with friends on a Friday or Saturday night in Downtown Manhattan and would get all dolled up for our ladies’ night out. Being from NYC people really put an effort into their fashion, makeup, and hair choices and I was totally one of them. Random women would approach me at lounges, restaurants, and even on the street asking me who did my makeup. I would chuckle and say I did it myself and they’d usually always ask if I took clients and what I charged. It never dawned on me to be a makeup artist before that. Low and behold, I started watching YouTube videos on face shapes and trends and practicing on friends and family.
Eventually, I felt confident enough to charge people and take on clients. It took a few years before I decided to pursue it full time and I haven’t looked back. I started doing collaborative unpaid editorial shoots that quickly turned into paid shoots in NYC. I then did catalog and magazine shoots and eventually bridal in NYC. I then moved to the northern suburbs of Boston in which I worked as a full-time bridal makeup artist, but absolutely didn’t like living there and wanted a much warmer sunnier climate and of course, having family in Texas was a plus. I met my husband in Massachusetts and on our first date told him I was eventually moving to Texas and he said if it works out, he’d have no problem moving. 1 exact year later we quickly packed up and moved to this wonderful state of Texas.
Having a fine art and graphic design background made it easy for me to transition to makeup which was a passion and hobby of mine at the time. I started my business years ago in NYC as a freelance makeup artist for catalog editorials, magazine editorials, etc to the runway to bridal. Although Covid hit just short of 2 months after moving to Texas and I was forced to completely stop working as a makeup artist, I was able to start all over again once the restrictions came up. I basically had to begin my business all over again from the bottom up. I went from relatively being completely new to DFW and not having any reputation or acknowledgment as a professional makeup artist struggling to gain clients to now working alongside other DFW-based established international makeup artists. This has helped me begin to establish a great reputation and gain the right clientele and continue to grow in DFW.
I approached this post covid world with the mindset that I was going to make it and dedicated my time to polishing my skillset, learning new trends and techniques to execute all styles of looks. This has helped me utilize better quality techniques to execute the best looks for my clients. My niche and specialty is fresh skin and red-carpet-ready looks. I love achieving a beautiful skin finish that looks great both on and off camera, isn’t dry looking, and doesn’t look or feel heavy on the skin.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Angeline Jasmin Beauty?
I am a mobile Makeup Artist. I have an in-home studio in Frisco TX that clients can come to for their makeup appointments. I also travel to clients’ homes in DFW for a service minimum. I personally provide makeup and simple dry hairstyling for all type of events like weddings, bridal, prom, business headshots, photoshoots, magazine and catalog editorials, everyday natural looks, and personalized in-person or virtual makeup lessons. For weddings and larger groups of services, I have a master hairstylist provide dry hairstyling as well as a junior makeup artist to assist.
I specialize in fresh skin and red-carpet-ready looks. I love achieving a beautiful skin finish that looks great both on and off camera, isn’t dry looking, and doesn’t look or feel heavy on the skin. Fresh skin techniques still gives great coverage and definition and still looks like skin versus heavier contouring techniques that looks very heavy in person.
I always take the time to ask my clients questions so I understand what they really want versus what they think they want and this makes a world of a difference in my client’s satisfaction. Many times, clients say they want a certain look but as a professional, I am able to properly discern what look will actually function based on their features, likes, and dislikes. I then educate and consult my client on my professional advice as to what will be the best look for them and because of this I have clients who have become loyal clients and now hire me for all their makeup needs. I provide a luxury service that provides value and care to my clients. I treat my clients the way I would want to be treated and always strive to give them a better service than the one before each time.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I take great care and pride to bring my clients a great luxury valuable service. I listen and care about what my clients want, like, and dislike so when you leave my chair you look and feel your best version!
