Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Belle Amor Picnics was born from a lifelong dream of entrepreneurship. Like many, in 2021 I felt the effect of COVID, and my position in corporate retail was eliminated. I had always been a “crafty mama” so to speak, even had a custom hair bow business years ago, yet I still wasn’t ready to take the leap. This twist in my career gave me the opportunity to step back and re-evaluate what my version of “success” was. I wanted to do something I was passionate about and something that connected me to others in a way that there would be a lasting memory of our meeting. I wanted to create a beautiful moment for others and allow them to celebrate any occasion, big or small. In this life, everything is worth celebrating! Thus, Belle Amor Picnics came to life. After a year now of this journey and getting my taste of the ups and sometimes downs of owning my own business, I am still so happy to say I did it! I had a vision of what I wanted to do with the next chapter of my life and now I get to live it. I get to meet amazing people, visit beautiful locations, and spend more time with my family all while giving my clients a memory to treasure with their loved ones!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the biggest learning curve for me was the dreaded “social media” platforms. These days you almost don’t exist if you aren’t showing up in someone’s timeline. My teenage children gave me a crash course and I also got a lot of support from fellow small business owners to learn some tips and how-tos. This year I am committed to joining networking groups and continuing to learn and also share what I have learned with others in the DFW small business community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Belle Amor Picnics is a luxury picnic event service. We provide a pop-up picnic that is fully customizable by the client. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or even ready to pop that magic question, we can help you every step of the way. We start by gathering details about our client and the occasion and then it’s to the “drawing board” to create something that speaks to the occasion and is unique for them. Whether this is mini glitter crowns for a birthday girl or palm leaf placemats for a jungle theme baby shower, we try to focus on every little detail to create the perfect aesthetic. We arrive and set up your event complete with all the tableware, games, Bluetooth speaker, and even have grazing box options to add on. When your event is over, we come back and clean-up is on us. All you have to do is show up! In the early months of building this business, I received a lot of feedback from friends and family about going for a “certain look” The thing is, my heart was pulling me in a different direction. I wanted to do something different, bright and bold colors, classy and sometimes quirky, unique but also able to fit an array of different clients. A core client is important but to me, it was more important to have something for everyone to enjoy.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
When you have a small business, you usually have a strong support system in the way of friends, family, etc. I owe so much of my success to my little family. Alongside my husband, Lorenzo, my two oldest children, Saphira and David are with me for almost every event. They help with the prep, the setup, the cleanup, and sometimes I’m even lucky enough to get them to do the “picnic dishes” I wouldn’t be able to pursue this passion of mine without them and for that, I am incredibly thankful.
