Inspiring Conversations with Luis Soto of WLF Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Soto.

Hi Luis, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Started when I dropped out of college, back in 2018, I was going thru some personal conflicts which resulted in me going into depression and anxiety, and coming from an immigrant family and being the first child of immigrants that made me feel more of a failure when telling my parents about what has happened, over that year I bought a phone gimbal to just mess around with and find a new hobby now that I had more free time, I also reached out to a friend who bought a camera and we went out to downtown Dallas to shoot. That day was the day I broke out of my shell and started to not care what people thought of me because I had people stare but I also had people come up to me and talk to me in a friendly way about what I was doing, so that made me feel more confident as a person and a creator at the time. Fast forward a year I found two great best friends who I met online and my creative life took a full swing, they gave me the boost I needed to make my dream of being a creative into a reality. Fast forward to 2021-2022 I quit my full-time job took a leap into making content full-time, surrounded myself with like-minded people, moved in with creative friends, connecting with amazing people with even more amazing backgrounds, and doing my best to build a community of creatives in DFW and chasing my dream one day at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all, from dealing with burn out, to judgment from close friends and family, it always pushes me back, but by surrounding myself with people just like myself I have proved to others and myself I have what it takes to make my dreams into reality, that alone has made the road easier and worth the challenges.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about WLF Media?
I do both photography and Videography, I started with car photography, and moved over to lifestyle and brand content. When I create any content, I always try to focus on the details of things whether that is cars, food, clothes, or anything I shoot I always tend to make sure the details are there to give the subject the personality It presents. I would say the proudest moment in my creative career would have to be when my parents finally accepted and finally understood this is what I want to do for my life, and now always ask me how my career is doing and offer any type of help.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say always being curious and having an open mind, because having those two things will just push you to create new things you wouldn’t do before and would also help by accepting advice from others ahead of you, also having great communication because that makes you much more open as a person and easier to talk with.
