Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Bryant.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a fairly new resident to Dallas, Tx. I originally moved from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am currently an entrepreneur and wardrobe stylist. I started getting into fashion as I grew up. I was about 7-8 years old when I was turning closets in our house, into my fashion office with a mini sewing machine and different fabrics. I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2016 and became a student at Tarrant County College for a few years. I was working as a sales representative at Sprint in 2017-2018 when I had met “Celebrity Fashion Stylist” Felisha Belle that was a customer that had eventually became my mentor.
After so many meetings and dinners with my mentor, I had realized more and more where exactly my heart lies and that was definitely within the fashion world. I then began meeting more creative individuals & networking with people that had seen my passion and potential from afar. I kept working on some of the smallest projects that eventually turned into bigger projects. Eventually, I was being asked to work on productions, photoshoots and events. And from there, things have been going up and everything I have been praying for came to me with patience.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not, I had so many bumps in the road and still do sometimes but I keep pushing through those bumps. Some of the things I would struggle with was building my clientele because I was new to the area so nobody knew me and that was a struggle. Financially, I struggled sometimes because I had bills to pay, so a lot of times it was either put money into my business or pay my bills. Another struggle was, changing my everyday routine to fit the life I was thriving for, so that meant waking up earlier, reading motivational books and morning yoga to get the blood flowing and going for the day.
Advice, if you are just starting or you aspiring to begin your journey, don’t wait, just start. I know it sounds easier said than done but it is possible to make what you want in your life happen. I always say evaluate your situation and see what you can do to make time for what you’re going for. For example, if it’s 1 hr for 5-6 days a week, you have begun somewhere and that 1 hr will make a difference for your career. Another thing to remember is to not let your peers or others make you feel like you can’t do something or that your in competition because you can do anything you set your mind to.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m an entrepreneur, my brand is Glorious Gold Collections. It is an e-commerce clothing store for women that are looking for flawless, unique and classy looks all in one. Glorious Gold Collections came about in 2017. It is an e-commerce clothing store for women that are looking for flawless, unique and classy looks all in one. Which, will be launching a Spring 2020 Collection, stay tuned.
Aside from being an entrepreneur, I am also a creative wardrobe stylist and personal stylist. I provide services personally to individuals looking for anything from basic to creative looks in fashion apparel. I also provide work with directors, models and photographers for photoshoots, video shoots and content creation. My every day as a stylist overall is not an easy job, but I’m in love with what I do. Even as a stylist, there are days where we forget to eat while working so hard on set but that’s the luxury of being a female boss.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come in the past two years and the amazing opportunities I’ve been blessed with thus far. Although, I’m not completely where I want to be yet, I promise myself to stay consistent and work hard towards my future goals every day.
How I set myself apart is something I, strongly focus on when I’m alone. I ask myself, what I haven’t seen yet or how daring am I willing to go with the creativity of fashion. A lot of times, I make due when there is completely nothing to create. My secret is just “create with your own vision”.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
When beginning your career, do not expect that things are gonna kick off in the first few days, weeks or months. Sometimes it takes years for your career and craft to kick into place. Another fact, be your own support system and believe in yourself more than anyone else because mostly you have yourself. You will feel frustrated with some of the things in your career but keep pushing through, it’s all apart of the process.
Lastly, if you’re passionate and want it bad enough, it will become what you eat, sleep and breathe. Once you begin making these things a habit, you will soon begin seeing the changes in your career that you are making that you didn’t notice you had started making. Always think smart and ask questions to those who are already where you desire to be.
