Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Beggs.
Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a love of makeup, how it made me feel when I wore it and when people complimented me on it. I would from time to time help friends out with their makeup for special occasions but never thought I was good enough to pursue it as a career. That was until I got to meet one of my makeup idols Daniela Bell. From that day on, she truly changed my life and my confidence in myself. I studied books and techniques for months and then, I was able to take her 5-day intense training course. Since then, she has been the best mentor anyone could ask for.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me. Mostly due to how hard I am on myself to do the best work. With the support of my family, friends and Daniela Bell I am able to overcome my own self-doubt. If I don’t have something down just right I study and practice until I do have it. I look how far I have come instead of how far I have to go.

I’m a makeup artist that specializes in Soft and Full glam. What sets me apart? Well, I think that would defiantly be my outgoing, and positive personality. My passion to learn and grow in this industry, I will push to evolve and be up to date with all the latest trends.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I think the biggest barrier is negative thoughts that take control of a woman’s mind. When this happens, we need to be aware of it and control them by replacing them with positive and encouraging thoughts. Something else is the fear of being pushed around by the men in a higher power. To overcome that is to be confident with your abilities and to build strong relationships within your field.
