Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Smith.
Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My background is in education as a music teacher, but as I moved back to Dallas in 2016, I began something new. I began to network at influencer events and found several people I clicked with. So, I started a Facebook group with me and those ten friends, and “Dallas Girl Gang” began. Now, we influence over 35,000 people each day on and offline!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started this community as a passion project to serve women and give them a place to land. Two and a half years later, I now run my own company To Gather LLC and I never imagined it. Many people will share their opinion, many people will tell you things are too hard, many people will not even support you – but WHY are you doing it. We are serving and connect women in DFW to be better connected, so we’re not going to stop.
Please tell us about To Gather LLC (Dallas Girl Gang).
Starting Dallas Girl Gang, we specialize in online and in-person community centered around events, content online, and partnerships. We are known for our inclusivity and resources for women in career and business!
We are the only community in Dallas for all women whether you’re new to Dallas, working woman, running a business, or just figuring out adulthood! We are proud (as To Gather LLC ) to also serve clients in influencer marketing, podcast pitching, social media management and more.
We strive to let all women in DFW know that they can show up and feel safe to engage and try to make friends!
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
Women right now need to be looking at each other. There’s so much opportunity in female-led spaces and we’re making our own opportunities that we need to be linking up together.
