Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Boyd.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an author and lifestyle content creator who empowers the everyday woman to live on purpose and love who God has made her be! When I was 13 years old, my world turned upside down when my dad died suddenly from an asthma attack. Only three months later, my mom passed away the day before my 14th birthday, from a long fight with breast cancer leaving me parentless. Soon after, I moved to Dallas, Texas with my aunt and uncle who were also my Godparents.
Through the struggles of my life, I’ve learned to push through adversity and keep looking up. When people ask me how I’ve gotten to where I am today, I say perseverance and the grace of God! I remember what it was like to feel as if my situation would never turn around or that my life would never get better which is why I am so passionate about what I do. My goal is to encourage and uplift young women to run with perseverance the race that has been marked out for them, to live on purpose, and to dream big!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been nothing close to a smooth road but it has been totally worth it. I’ve had several struggles along the way that I had to depend on God’s strength alone for. When I was writing my first book, I came across so many barriers that almost lead to me quitting! With my YouTube channel (youtube.com/simplydrea) there have been so many periods where I’ve almost thrown in the towel. What I can say from all of these experiences is that not giving up has taught me an awesome lesson that could only be learned with perseverance.
Life will get hard sometimes, and it’s important that we keep pushing. My best projects have come from me persevering and learning not to give up when it’s hard.
My advice to my girls would be to go after your dream, I know it may sound cliche but I mean it. A lot of times, we unknowingly see our goals as unreachable or too hard to obtain but that’s simply not true. There is ALWAYS a way! Don’t take no for an answer if it’s a desire of your heart. Keep trying and do not give up. It will not be easy, but that’s okay and the process is typically where you grow the most. My last piece of advice is to never stop learning – keep researching and learning more about your craft and your area of interest.

I am an author and lifestyle content creator who empowers the everyday woman to live on purpose and love who God has made her be! I help aspiring authors achieve their longtime dream of becoming authors. I also have a lifestyle and beauty based YouTube channel with over 22,000 subscribers and absolutely love connecting with my subscribers and supporters through my content.
For my day job, I am a social media marketing professional for a local nonprofit. Using my expertise in this area outside of those four walls, I help brands and business expand their reach and attract their target market online.
Who have you been inspired by?
Several women in my life and encouraged and helped me get to where I am today. My mom, grandma, aunt Gloria are a few women in my family who have played huge roles in my life. Seeing their dedication and strength through all stage of life and struggles has etched memories in my mind that I will never forget.
Some women outside of my family who have been impactful are Terri Savelle Foy, Maya Elious, Heather Lindsey, and Mercy B. Carruthers. All of these women, have inspired me to run after my purpose and truly believe in myself and what God has placed inside of me.
Overall, I am so thankful for those who have gone before me and have encouraged whether in person or virtually. I truly pray that one day, I can be to other women what they have been and still are for me.
