Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Taylor owner of Bri’s Bakes.
Hi Bri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Baking has been a passion of mine since childhood. I grew up watching my grandmothers transform into “Baker Allstars“ to prepare for holiday meals. By the age of ten, I was honored with the important role of baking the cornbread to make Thanksgiving dressing. These fond memories ignited my desire to create sweet treats made with love you can taste!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Bri’s Bakes was started in January 2019. Being in only the second year of operation, March 2020 took a toll on Bri’s Bakes as it did many small businesses across the country. Empty grocery stores and loss of income are a recipe for disaster. As we continue to fight this pandemic together, I greatly appreciate my loyal customers and hope to brighten your day during these challenging times.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My treats are not only baked with love, but I’m constantly coming up with new and inventive desserts. I’m most known for my bundt cakes and a wide variety of brownies. I’m a southern girl, so bundt cakes are near and dear to my heart. With the help of my trusty sidekick butter (sorry vegan friends), I am able to create decadent bundt cakes that are out of this world. My list of brownie flavors is endless, but to name a few faves: Strawberry Brownie, Red Velvet Swirly, Lemon Brownie and Swirly Spice. All of these treats embody the texture of a brownie, but not the classic chocolate flavor. Any brownie with “Swirly” in the title are swirled with cream cheese. In addition to selling sweet treats for pick up or shipping, I also work as a vendor for events. Ranging from drive-by/virtual baby showers to pop-up shops. I’m most proud of the number of new customers I’ve gained through the power of networking and word of mouth. I’ve been blessed with an abundance of customers who aren’t afraid to tell a friend.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Never be afraid to hear someone else’s advice regarding your business. Yes, I know it’s your baby and you’re protective of it, but a fresh set of eyes on an idea or concept always brings a different view.
