Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney King.
Hi Brittney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing photography and videography by desperate need and desire to quit my job. I had no experience in it and really didn’t have a plan other than I knew I had to get a camera and some business cards. I reached out to some of my friends to let me shoot them or do a music video for them. Once I got them to take me serious lol, my life as a photographer had begun. But of course, not without twist and turns, once I quit my job, I was left with a mountain of bills once my cushion I set aside for myself ran out. Things got tough, I was depressed and no matter what I did I never felt like I was moving in a forward direction.
One day, it was like a switch that happened inside my head. It was time for me to get up and take back control of my life. My uncle owns an audio and visual company that is contracted through churches in Memphis for their services. He had recently got a new contract that required him to hire employees and I was one of them. Through my time doing the visual aspects of the job, I began to fall in love with a word I was hearing. The messages that I would hear the pastor preach as I’m watching him through my video equipment set up, the life he was speaking into me is something I could feel. I got my joy back. I got my peace back. I got my purpose back. Fast forward to present day, I am currently back working a full-time job but with an extremely flexible schedule that allows me to still do photography and videography without any stops. Because of my job’s flexibility, I’m able to outsource my talents and collab with other artist such as Jacorri and still manage my load.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I do a lot. Aside from my photography and videography, I’m also a rapper. I go by the name “Jus Bentley” but most people just call me “Bentley”. I specialize in BTS or behind the scenes Vlogs. I enjoy capturing people in there natural state just being themselves. Also, I like doing BTS because I love the reaction my clients give me while watching it. I’m most proud of my consistency and determination to not give up. I feel one important thing that sets me apart are my prices, I mean my slogan is: “I got the deals.”
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Very outgoing, silly/funny, competitive, hard-working, laid back.
