Life and Work with Selena Johnson

Thanks for sharing your story with us Selena. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been a Realtor in the Dallas area since 2018. Being a realtor has been very rewarding both financially and spiritually. It has always been very important to me to give someone your very best. I think it is why I spent so many years and have had a wide variety of jobs in the customer service industry. Although I never knew I wanted to be a Realtor, I knew I wanted to be my own boss. I started off waiting tables which then turned into being a manager. The hours were so long that I wasn’t able to spend enough time with my son. It was hard giving up the money but I knew I could be doing both, making money and spending time with my family. I turned then to dental assisting which lasted a few years but having a small child to take care of, it just wasn’t enough. I wanted to work for MYSELF.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing in life worth anything is easy. Finding a way to do what you love and make a living out of it isn’t easy and takes a lot of effort. I think the only struggle I had along the way was self-doubt. Self-doubt can hold you back in so many ways. I learned that life is about trial and error and making mistakes was part of the process and you have to just do it, own it, make your vision your reality and do not give up. The end goal isn’t the most important part, it’s the journey.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
First and foremost, my main focus is the clients happiness. In my opinion, being a great realtor starts with being a great listener, listening to your client’s needs and not your wants. Making it about your client and not about you. Homebuying is scary and in most cases, the biggest purchase one can make so it’s my job to make sure it’s a smooth transition. I assist clients in buying or renting homes, selling their homes and also FREE apartment locating!
