Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Cardenas-Aguilar.
Veronica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had originally been interested in hair and makeup and especially brows since high school. I did a semester of college and decided it wasn’t for me, and enrolled in Beauty School. I graduated in 2013 and got licensed in 2014. I quickly began working at Ulta as an Arch Expert with Benefit Cosmetics and worked there for a bit. My best friend was working at European Wax Center at the time and her location was hiring, but I was nervous to apply due to never doing full body waking before! I ended up doing it anyways and I got the position. I was there until December 2016. I quit after having my daughter because I thought it would be so easy to get back to work but I was WRONG!
I was a stay at home mom for about 9 months when I decided to get back into the workforce. I had a full-time job when my best friend had gone on her own and I helped her with her logo and marketing material, sending her ideas and what not. She’s actually the reason I have MiaBella Beautique! She pushed me to go out on my own because she knew how much I didn’t like working for someone else. I opened in March 2018. MiaBella Beautique is named after my daughter Mia, and she’s also one of the main reasons why I have the boutique. I wanted to have something I could give her. I have BIG plans for MiaBella Beautique! I want to eventually have my own cosmetic line, skin care, and a storefront with employees. Something Mia can be apart of and even work at as she enters the workforce as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t easy. I started with literally nothing, no clientele AT ALL! Not many people do that, you know? They usually start out within for someone or booth renting and then branch out, so it was difficult for me to gain the clientele back. I had already known that though, I knew it was going to be difficult and that’s why I don’t focus so much on trying to get new clients with advertisements. I appreciate my current clients and the referrals they send me. Word of mouth is the best referral program out there. I like my clients to know I appreciate them, so I’m always thinking of different ways I can give them perks. I have a loyalty program just for them! You can literally get $10 off at EVERY visit.
My advice would be… if you really want this, be prepared to struggle financially at first. It’s normal not to see a profit the first year, so don’t get discouraged! Think of ways to advertise yourself and ways to retain clients.

I would have to say that I am known for brow shaping. I love, love, love, love, loooovvee brows! I’m a perfectionist and in this case, it is a benefit. I will not let you leave with brows I am not proud of, I just won’t. I also thread brows along with waking. I also offer full body waxing, brow tints, and lash & brow tints. My Brazilians are 15 min. at the longest, but my goals are to get you out before that, so you are not in that much paid for long. I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m a perfectionist and actually take pride in the work I do. I do not want you to ever feel like an in and out kind of client. I want you to feel comfortable and open up, let me be your therapist. I forgot to mention I also offer Lash Lifts!
Lash lifts are a perm for your lashes basically. The process goes as so: wooly the rod to the eyelid, apply the glue and separate the lashes while on the rod, then apply the lifting and setting lotion and remove. The lashes will be more noticeable and curled more. Lifts & tints last 6-8 weeks varies on each person.
