Life & Work with Anthony Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Sanchez.

Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well in 2014 I suffered a life-changing accident which left me paralyzed from the chest down, when I was Injured, I didn’t know anybody who used a wheelchair, my friends/family didn’t know anybody, so I was on a journey that I had to navigate with trial and error! So, I wanted to use my lessons to help others who ended up paralyzed or needing to use a wheelchair so they wouldn’t feel alone, give them hope and let them know there’s life at the end of the tunnel! Now we have over 525k followers across social media to spread the message that if ANT CAN, I CAN #ACIC

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Far from a smooth road! After my injury the job I was at laid me off (I was there 10 years) I had a breakup with my daughter mother (9 years together) & in 2020 we found out my father had pancreatic cancer and had 2 weeks to live, so it’s been far from smooth, it hasn’t been easy but life doesn’t stop we gotta keep trying to be the best we can be, and enjoy every day above ground.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So, I do modeling/acting/peer mentor for Christopher Reeves foundation & social media personality. I’m proud of everything I’ve done honestly, but one that sticks out the most would have to be, being the cover model on NEW MOBILTY magazine with my daughter, to be able to share about being a disabled father and have a professional photo shoot with my daughter is def top of the list! I think when it comes to me, I’m just authentic I don’t try to fit in with the crowd and do what’s cool, I stay true to myself and my beliefs. I take pride in my wheels, and I think people can see the confidence and it changes their perspectives on people with disabilities.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my daughter, being able to be a father is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, to dress up on Halloween with my girl, to do daddy-daughter dances with my girl, to teach her things and see her use those things in her life is just amazing to see. 2nd would be helping the newly injured people I get paired with/ or people online get back to living life to the fullest.
