Life & Work with Karen Fry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Fry.

Hi Karen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I was living in the Bay Area in October of 2013 when I had a profound mystical experience at a BART Station that completely changed every area and aspect of my life. Two months prior I had become a licensed spiritual leader (minister) and was starting a spiritual community in the Mission District of San Francisco.

Prior to becoming a spiritual leader, I spent 23 years in executive leadership, sales, and marketing. Over half of my career was spent in the medical device industry where I thrived, loved the start-up environment, and helped take companies to their next major growth stage. I chose to totally leave that career because I want to BE LOVE in the world, help humanity awaken to its spiritual magnificence, and help create a world that works for all.

At this point in my life, I consciously disrupted all that was comfortable – ending an 11-year relationship, plans to launch a spiritual community, the dream home I was living in, where I was living, and a financially secure safety net. I took a leap of faith and trusted that the Universe was conspiring for my Highest Good.

Literally a few weeks afterwards, I was asked to come to Dallas and work with an established spiritual leader, Dr. Petra Weldes (https://spiritualcenter.me/3zHwWnv), at the Center for Spiritual Living Dallas (https://csldallas.org/). She had been the Spiritual Director for over 20 years and as a “newbie” spiritual leader, I was honored to embark in this shared ministry. Wow! I had spoken one year before at this community, and I felt deep within me that this was the spiritual home that I was serve. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen so quickly. My work was to trust, not settle, and quit playing small.

CSLDallas is a dynamic, 7 day-a-week spiritual center dedicated to teaching and practicing a powerful spirituality that inspires people to live their dreams and tap into the power within.

We are a center where people are spiritually nourished, lifted, and experience connection, boundless love, and joy. We focus on the metaphysics of manifestation, inner peace and deepening through meditation, and supporting one another on our spiritual journeys.

CSLDallas is one of the most diverse spiritual communities in the DFW metroplex with people from all different faith traditions, ethnicities, cultures, sexual orientations, ages, and life experiences. We are an open and affirming community dedicated to inclusivity, diversity, and the celebration of every person. No one is left out. We believe everyone is an authentic, unique, perfect expression of Spirit. We aspire for everyone connected to our community to live, love, and grow their lives with positive, practical, spiritual tools; ignite their passions, and share their authentic gifts toward making the world a better place.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I was just starting to get settled into my work at CSLDallas when I received an unexpected blessing (https://youtu.be/JzC0om9XNTw) in the form of a breast cancer diagnosis that rocked my world. I immediately knew that I would need to put all the spiritual principles and practices that I had learned over the past 7 years into practice. This diagnosis was NOT going to stop me from living my best life!

Utilizing the infinite wisdom within me, affirmations, denials, affirmative prayer, forgiveness, meditation, self-love, rising above the law of averages, and holding the vision of my best possible outcome, I consciously walked through the experience and am still cancer-free 7 years later. This doesn’t mean that it was easy, that I didn’t experience fear and challenging moments – I did – but I had a community of support to help me through it all. I don’t think I could do life without community. I also received so many unexpected blessings by moving through that journey. It was the first time that I truly realized that I had been rejecting myself, not fully loving and accepting who I am, and embracing all of me. By doing deep spiritual and forgiveness work, I was fully open to boundless love and able to receive my next unexpected blessing (https://youtu.be/ZAEVyzbuZPs) – finding my soulmate.

What began as a partnership in ministry, also gifted me with a partner in life – the other Co-minister. For the next five years, Petra and I helped to grow our spiritual community together as Co-Spiritual Directors. People are often surprised when they get a tour of our campus because it is misleading when you drive up in this seemingly mundane office complex. It continues to prove that nothing about CSLDallas is your “usual church.” We invested in our JOY (Journey of Youth) Village space, so kids and teens have a great place to learn empowerment principles and how to be their full, authentic self. Education is a keystone to the teachings of our philosophy, and we are known for our transformative classes to assist each person on their individual paths.

Every aspect of the CSLDallas community was expanding and thriving when the pandemic hit in early 2020! It’s been challenging to move absolutely everything online and keep community members connected and grounded in unprecedented times. We’ve also done our best to move forward on our Global Vision (https://csldallas.org/organization-leadership/) and to speak up, show up and take a stand for social justice issues taking place in the city of Dallas and beyond.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for my enthusiasm, big energy, inspirational speaking, and prosperity consciousness. I’m committed to teaching people how to manifest their best life and live an abundant life. I love to invite people to move forward into their highest potential – to move from limitation to limitless. I come from the place where spirituality and science meet in the fulcrum of mysticism and quantum physics, spiritual psychology and neuroscience, conscious awareness, and astrophysics.

I often incorporate extreme spirituality practices for transformation such as walking on fire, walking on broken glass, breaking boards with your hand and arrows with the softest part of your neck. I can lead these transformative experiences because I am a Certified Firewalking Instructor. I also lead sacred travel groups where I combine deep spiritual practice in beautiful places throughout the world. My professional cameras serve as my companions to capture the wildlife, landscapes, people, and priceless moments. I am always on fire with the beauty, creativity, abundance, diversity, and awe of Life Itself.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people would be surprised, because of how I show up in the world, that there are lots of times when I’m challenged. Challenged by my inner critic, the “voice in my head”, that likes to say, “You don’t know enough; you have nothing new to say; you’re not enough; just quit it’s too tiring; this isn’t going to work out; there’s not enough time; who do you think you are; etc.” I bet you recognize this voice, too. Sometimes it never shuts up. I must constantly meet that inner critic (which gives me bad advice, keeps me from my Highest Good, and is a bad protection mechanism) with a stronger inner voice that speaks the Truth of Reality – that there is Infinite Intelligence, Divine Creativity, Absolute Abundance, and Inexhaustible Energy AS ME. It’s a daily spiritual practice to quiet this voice in my head, not listen to it, not let it be in control, nor be my guide.
