Life & Work with Rachel Polley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Polley.

Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved baking but always looked at it as a hobby growing up. When I was faced with the decision to go into it as a career, I chose a more conventional career. After a semester in college, I dropped out and chased my passion for food. I worked at two bakeries and went to culinary school prior to opening my business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Learning the business side of things has been hard for me. I love being creative and artistic when it comes to design, but the emails and the money aspect are not my strong suit.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love weddings and large events. I specialize in unique designs and prefer to work with someone who would consider themselves outside the box. I love artistry and the tying of details together especially when it comes to weddings.

How do you think about happiness?
I’m regards to my business, I am extremely happy when I get to see a bride light up. Typically a couple usually meets me with one idea in mind and leaves with a complete different idea, and I love seeing the lightbulb moment. I also feel overjoyed when I get to drop off the cake and see it tie together with every other aspect of the day.
