Life & Work with Uduak Nkanga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Uduak Nkanga.

Hi Uduak, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a 16-year-old activist, I began speaking up against social injustice and civil rights. As the daughter of a strong immigrant mother from Nigeria, hard work, leadership, and ambition has always been instilled in me from an early age. I first attended Jarvis Christian College on a cross country and track scholarship, later transferring to the University of North Texas where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science. From law to politics, writing, and mentoring pushing the limits has gotten be to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been far from smooth, but I will say it is and continues to be 100% worth it. It takes a lot of sacrifice, sleepless nights, and work but it if fulfilling.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As someone who not only works in Policy in Reproductive Justice but also a Political Content Creator (@uduakfortx) and Writer (author of “How I Utilized a Useless Degree”), I am most proud of the lasting impact I provide through doing what I love the most. At the most vulnerable times it’s very fulfilling to see the lasting impact not only my work in RJ, but content creator can have in society today.

I would say what sets me apart from others is that there is not a lot of 23-year-old black woman in the realm of politics. To be so young, in a space that was not created for me is not only impactful but something I cherish.

What do you think about happiness?
Living in my purpose, and doing what I was handcrafted to do is what makes me not only happy but fulfills me.
