Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Jackson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aaron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in a small Oklahoma town. You could say I was born being creative. As a kid, I would trace my feet, make shoes out of cardboard boxes with hot glue and paint designs on them. Yes, you guessed it, I would wear them hot glued cardboard shoes right to the grocery store. I was very proud of them and you couldn’t tell me anything. As I reached middle school, I found myself painting props for church and school events. I can remember going to grandma’s house and rearranging her furniture (without permission) pretending I was an interior designer. I began to realize had a natural eye for design and grandma always let me how talented she thought I was. I was grandma certified and that was all I needed to know!
As I matured into an adult my design and creative skills matured too. Friends and family were always calling me for interior design help. They knew if I was involved, their projects were gonna be next-level awesomeness. I felt like the male Martha Stewart every time my hotline blinged! Pursuing the things I were naturally good at began to take a back seat tho as life started throwing curve balls and the reality of being an adult set in. I began to give up hope of ever doing what I really wanted to do. I truly felt lost.
One day, my dear friend Tony (who I met when I moved to Dallas) began to question me about my dreams and life goals. Sitting in my beautifully decorated apartment looking at my own art on the walls, I spoke to him about my passion for interior design and being creative. He began to look around and started encouraging me to think about pursuing those dreams again. He told me I was too talented to not be doing bigger things with my talents. While I knew he was right, I had gotten stuck in rut of mediocrity. He quickly said Imma push you to start doing what you should be doing with your life. “You can’t make it if you dont start trying again…” he said. He began to introduce me to some local real estate investors. Within a month or two, I found myself staging homes and painting art to go in the properties I was staging. Tony, being the amazing person he is didnt stop there. Tony got me my first art exhibit at a local hotel. From there, it was like the universe was opening up doors right and left. I was not sure where I was going I just kept accepting whatever opportunities came my way. It was like I was dreaming. I had finally stepped into my destiny. People everywhere were recognizing and seeing my talent all because of one person who believed in me enough to stop and help me get back on track. Thank you, Tony.
Fast forward to today, I’ve staged homes that have sold before ever hitting the market. My art is exhibited in a few local hotels. I’m doing magazine interviews and working on getting my art pieces in a local gallery!
I currently just finished up an art exhibition for the Aloft Dallas Euless. It’s a new hotel opening up Sept. 2019! More opportunities are in the works and they keep coming. I’m truly grateful for every one of them.
Has it been a smooth road?
