Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Rohde.
Adam, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We started PRO Martial Arts – Lakewood in March 2014 wanting to make an impact in the community and to be a resource for parents.
We have participated in silent auctions, school carnivals, movie premiers, private organization events, and much more. PMA Lakewood has the largest Little Rhino 3-6 year old’s of all Pro Martial Arts. We are in a prime location with lots of children and family activities surrounding us. Today we have around 180 students and are looking to open a second location soon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a fairly smooth road. As many businesses do we’ve had some turn-over with employees/instructors. However, our Leadership team has remained consistent. Growth of the school has also been consistent, all but maybe 2 or 3 months of the almost 4 years that we’ve been open. Summers in Texas are the slowest time because so many people try to beat the heat and go on vacation.
Please tell us about PRO Martial Arts-Lakewood.
PRO Martial Arts is a Character Education Program that uses Martial Arts as a driving force. PMA is a seamless fusion of 3 different Korean styles: Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo, and Hapkido. We genuinely focus on ensuring that we create students of character through our 3-5 minute mat chats in each class. We teach the students to set small goals with purpose of reaching a larger goal, Black Belt. Our instructors all come from different martial arts backgrounds but are all trained in our system and bring their specialized knowledge to strengthen their teaching ability.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would have started our leadership program sooner than later.
