Adina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the CEO and Founder of Sunshine Body Care LLC. I started my company as a Do It Yourself (DIY) project and to save my household money. My husband would always get our shea butter from Michigan when he would visit and over time, it would deem to be a little expensive. I started doing research and decided to make my own shea butter/body butter. I handed samples out to family, friends, and associates and received rave reviews. I was encouraged by my best friend and husband, Roger Porter, to start my own business. He does not only supports me, but he also encourages and pushes me to step out my comfort zone. I love how my products not only moisturize the skin, but it helps to heal the skin.
My goal is to encourage as many people as I can to use all natural products because it is better for your skin and health.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, it has not been an easy road and it continues to be a journey every day. I am faced with the challenges of how do I encourage and educate people that have been using unhealthy products at your major retailers, to now to buy all natural products which are better for them.
I, too, used to purchase these very products as well and was so disappointed that one of my favorite stores are selling those unhealthy products today. I am very thankful and grateful for people educating me and, me, having the willingness to research on my own some of the unhealthy ingredients that are in the everyday products that we use on a daily basis but don’t even think about how it can impact our health over time.
Through time, I am slowly replacing the products in our household with all natural products.

I hand make all natural body butter, body scrubs, and bath salts. I am mostly known for my whipped body butter. Not only does it moisturizes your skin, but it heals it i.e. eczema/skin rashes and it softens your skin.
What I am most proud of is hearing the stories of how my products have had a positive effect on a customer’s skin. It warms my heart and reminds me that I am doing something to make a difference in this world. I have had a customer tell me that it smoothed out her stretch marks during pregnancy; it has healed a customer that had a rash on her hand, and how it has helped customers with eczema; just to name a few.
What sets me apart is the fact that I offer my body products in a variety of all natural scents. Not only are you getting a great product for your body, but you also get to experience the great aroma while you are using it.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very shy person and kept to myself. My brother and I grew up in a single parent home (raised by my mom, Sharon Ray). Even though I was shy, I loved spending the summers with family in my hometown Pittsburgh, PA when we moved to Michigan when I was six years old. Growing up I always had a hearts desire to help and encourage others.
