Today we’d like to introduce you to Adisa Kareem.
Adisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m the third of five children, four boys and a girl. I have a legal background (JD), and have always been fascinated by technology. I have lived in three different continents (Africa, Europe & now US) and various cities in the world. I lived in London for a while and went to study in Aberdeen, Scotland afterwards. I had a master in information technology Law (LLM) but hell bent on taking the New York Bar. That took me to New Jersey. Why New Jersey? Because it was the closest I could get to New York with its prohibitive cost of rent.
Lived in Jersey, commuted to New York for a while but little did I know life was about to throw me a curve ball which I grabbed and took to Texas. Settling down can be very challenging even though I had a plan, survival first was always on the top of the list.
With the encouragement of my wife, I decided to bring Clickieware to live last year even though we had it on paper over eight years ago.
We see the need to cater for the human aspect of cyber security and that of a group of people who are more vulnerable in the society…children and seniors! It’s a known fact that CEOs and top managements understand the need to have extra layers of security to protect their assets. Human will always be the weakest link as pointed out by former FBI Director James Cormey. We also know that the best tech can’t protect human from themselves.
Obviously, businesses will try its best to protect itself even though there will always be that person that will click on something. The same can’t usually be said of seniors who are twice as vulnerable nor the kids whose paramount protection is from their parents or those they care less about.
Has it been a smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth ride. Getting the words out there can be a challenge. Funding and gatekeepers
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Clickieware story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in cyber security and online safety. We help businesses and individuals alike to be safer online. We do this by organizing onsite training, seminars and workshops.
We are proud of our efforts to keep kids and seniors safer online. We currently work with different libraries and cities to educate these vulnerable groups of the society.
The best tech can’t protect human from themselves. We are concern about human. The more we know the less likely the breaches. Human errors account for over 90% of successful cyber attacks.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It’s going to be mind blowing. From AI to IoT and big data. Might be practically impossible to do anything without technology. One major challenge will be if human can keep up. Robots are beginning to take the place of human and there’s no stop in sight.
