Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Kinter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alex. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia and moved to Florida with my mother at the age of five. My father was a regional manager for a chain of furniture rental stores which led the family to move to Texas because of a change in the workplace with my father. After a rather rough and odd childhood, I had developed an interest in action sports and the arts. I was soon heavily engaged in graphics, computers, and web development. Since the video courses were always full, I took up some Photography classes during my junior year which led to an early start to lighting and composition. Which little did I know, at the time would soon take over most of my life?
“Alex was a student in my photography class many years ago. As a young photo student, Alex always showed great interest and loved taking pictures. At the end of the school year, I remember he had just bought himself a wireless flash and was trying it out at our district art show. He has really grown his craft and built an impressive portfolio. I am proud to say I had the privilege of teaching him!” – Angela Gilpin, WISD Teacher
Once my early education was complete, I attended Texas A&M University-Commerce for Art Direction & Photography (2011). I received my certification as Digital Imaging & Post-processing Technician from RED Digital Cinema Education (2012).
After completing my early education in 2012, I entered the mainstream entertainment industry. I started my career in photography & cinematography. I shot a lot of press photos for bands, artists and retail shops to get my start and then gradually moved into directing music videos, commercial production, marketing, production, and entrepreneurship. For several years, I worked alongside entertainment host, Paul Salfen. I and Paul worked on shows such as The Drew Pearson Show, Sports Plus, and Inside Entertainment; as well as notable print publications, Envy Magazine, 944 Magazine, ScoreBoard Monthly, Once I gained enough commercial, advertising and industrial experience in the Dallas market, I founded a video production company.
“Wise, Elite, Thorough. Alex first helped brand an entertainment project I was working on with some very strategic photoshoots, an in-depth set, and wardrobe design that led to major RED Epic shoots.” – Chris Romain, Dustin Perkins Band, Emerald City Band
I proceeded to receive a notable reputation as a commercial director and has worked with brands such as AT&T, Dallas Cowboys, Hublot, Pernot Ricard, Marriott Courtyard, Sonic, MTV, Viacom, and Mercedes Benz. My production studios had extended offices and networks in Dallas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Chicago, New York, and Miami at one point. Also specialized in music videos, commercial production, corporate videos, television cinematography, aerial cinematography, motion graphics, photography, digital marketing, and branded content creation. After having several falling outs with some business partners and then the death of my creative partner, Erik Schuessler, I decided to step away from Solarity Studios and try things a bit differently.
“Alex and his team are visionaries that transform and execute our expectations with state of the art tech and igneous concepts. An extremely dedicated team that think WAY beyond the expectations. I would recommend them for anyone who has video production needs.” Lexi Roman – Mroads, HP
A bittersweet decision considering the studio had created a strong brand presence in Dallas as one of the top premiere Dallas video production companies and studios. The video production outfit was even a sponsor of The Dallas International Film Festival (2016,2017) for two years in a row. Also, the studio had made it up to North Dallas to also sponsor The Texas Revolution Professional Indoor Football Team for a year in 2016.
“Had the pleasure of meeting this talented young man. Mr. Alex Kinter strives hard to understand his client’s vision and builds upon that, only to create something better! Thank you for your hard work and creativity!” – Oscar Miranda, Trophy Room, Wholesome Grub
My new media company, Kinter Media, has quickly been established since then in other markets such as Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. After venturing in to film production realm by directing and producing the short film The Poolside (Alone At The Pool) alongside writer/director Erik Schuessler and starring Anne Beyer, I’m quickly developing the itch to do film projects again. The loss of my friend really took the wind out of my sails and was quite unexpected as he was doing better. I hope to finish out the project soon and have some closure and finally showcase the work of late production partner and friend.
While I still had ample ambition for the arts and before I spread my work farther south to Florida, I started to act and appear in productions such as some of my music video clients and film comrades in shorts, most recently in David Lee’s music video. – Bringing Hippie back.
“Alex is bright, creative and gifted in the art of communications. He is able to understand the power of a brand, and actively pursues on-point media parts to accurately get the message delivered. A natural storyteller, Alex knows how to wow an audience and keep them interested. It would be a pleasure to work with him again!” – Dave Lopez, Author & Mentor
Over the years, I’ve gotten the privilege and opportunity to film and photograph a wide range of celebrities like Sir Richard Branson, Will Ferrel, Zach Galifianakis, Selena Gomez, Dirk Nowitzki, Val Kilmer, Stephen King, Jennifer Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Taryn Manning, and Paul Oakenfold, just to name a few. With my business networks and teams in the commercial advertising space, I’ve produced key content pieces and effective video marketing strategies for many established local, national and internationally recognized brands.
“Smart people doing smart things! Passion, intensity, and purpose.” – Randy Jacobs, Dallas 24hr Club
Today, I mostly get to direct commercials and consult for many brands and businesses for their video marketing needs. Recently I’ve gotten the opportunity to sponsor some out of state events in Jacksonville, FL such as the Donovin Darius Fathers Day Celebration 2018, where the mayor and NFL legends spoke, to serve the community and represent the healthy energy drink company MATI Energy.
Has it been a smooth road?
