Thanks for sharing your story with us Alison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Neily’s Sweets is a mother/daughter duo. My mom and I took a cookie class two years ago and thought, “We could do this!” We started by making cookies for fun. We shared them with friends and family. The guys in the Fort Worth Fire Department have had their fair share, too! My husband is a firefighter. We then started getting requests from family and friends for special events: birthdays, wedding showers, anniversaries. Then grew to friends of friends, neighbors, coworkers and more! I love the creativity this business allows me. It is relaxing to come home after work and sit down to decorate cookies.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a smooth road. The partnership my mom and I have makes the whole process easier for both of us. She makes the cookie dough and I bake and decorate.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Neily’s Sweets story. Tell us more about the business.
Neily’s Sweets creates custom, butter cookies for special events, holidays, gifts. What makes us most proud is our happy customers who turn into repeat customers. We love being a tiny part of such special events in people’s lives. I think the buttery taste of our cookies really sets us apart. Customers are always amazed, not only by the design of our cookies but the taste!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the sweets industry getting even more creative in the next 5-10 years. It’s amazing to see all of the different techniques “cookiers” use to create art on a cookie! I know the creativity will grow as people experiment with new techniques. It will be exciting to see!
