Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Reed.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Abilene, TX. I have always been interested in modeling since I was younger but I didn’t know where to even begin. When I was 11, I moved up into the DFW area. My passion for modeling grew by the day. I did my research and came upon several modeling schools and agencies. I started going to a modeling school for 20 weeks and then, I graduated. Soon after graduating, I signed on with my first agent. Even though I went to a modeling school and I have an agent, most things I do today are self-taught. Modeling isn’t as easy as people think it is. It’s not just “taking simple pictures” or “Posting random pictures on social media”. Modeling involves so much time, effort, planning and money. It’s something you really have to be willing to spend hours a day on and you really have to be passionate about it. After starting my modeling career, I then started to become a social media influencer! Then, to get more content out, I stated doing YouTube (THE Alyssa Nicole) and IGTV videos.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The modeling industry is huge. It has definitely not been a smooth road for me. I’m in school and I also have a job so balancing modeling & YouTube on top of that is very difficult. Starting out, I always had doubts and second thoughts. When I first started, there were times when I wanted to give up because I felt like I wasn’t achieving much and that I didn’t have time for it. I had to come to a realization that it’s going to take years to be where I want to be and everything will be in God’s timing. There’s a lot of ups and downs with being a model but you have to push those aside and focus on why you started. It’s never easy.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from others?
Lately, I’ve been working on a publication, building my audience on Instagram, as well as working with several different brands. I have several opportunities coming up that I am taking on and I can’t wait for the public to see! I am very different from others because I am genuine and positive towards everyone while also holding a big future. I want to inspire people to become what they truly dream of, not what people “think” they should be. One of my biggest accomplishment so far has to be getting published in the November 2019 Style n Soul Magazine! ( https://www.magcloud.com/
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, I plan on going to either LA or Houston to model because they have such a high industry. I look forward to working with huge brands and modeling for different companies. I am looking forward to being a print model and seeing myself all around the world spreading positivity and inspiring others to chase their dreams!! I am so thankful for my family and close friends for all of their love and support. It’s always good to feel like someone has your back through it all.
