Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Kovach.
Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My enthusiasm for fitness began at an early age. Raised in The Woodlands, Texas, I spent most of my hours outside of school in competitive dance. I attended Southern Methodist University where I majored in accounting and was a member of the SMU Pom Squad. During my senior year at SMU, I took my first Pure Barre class and instantly fell in love with the technique. The caring and friendly atmosphere of the studio and the music that was played set the tone for a perfect way to keep fit. You might say, it was love at first tuck! I began teaching at Pure Barre Dallas in 2011. As a teacher, I discovered my passion for teaching and helping others to achieve their fitness goals. After graduation, I worked for a financial consulting firm while continuing to teach Pure Barre classes. I dreamt of opening my own Pure Barre studio since my very first class. One day, I finally decided to quit my job and take the plunge!
I opened my first studio in Allen, Texas in 2014 and my second studio in McKinney, Texas in 2015. The rest is history!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I opened my first Pure Barre studio when I was just 25 years old. Despite my business background, opening two businesses in a little over one year was not easy! I spent my first two years of ownership pretty much “living” at the studios. I spent countless hours training and managing staff, teaching Pure Barre classes, running social media accounts, managing retail, learning to advertise and market my studios, doing my own accounting, and more, while trying to still have a life outside of work. I’ll be honest – I didn’t have much of a life outside of work those first few years.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned as a business owner is that delegation is the key to success. Know that you can’t do everything on your own, and that’s ok! Empower your employees and allow them to take on leadership roles. Build relationships with them and praise them for their hard work. I promise it will pay off!

Pure Barre offers a variety of 50-minute high intensity, low impact total body workouts utilizing the ballet barre and other light equipment set to fun, motivating music! What makes Pure Barre unique is that all classes are taught at the same level as the technique was designed to accommodate people of all levels of fitness. Beyond the workout itself, the intimacy of Pure Barre’s small class setting and studio design creates the perfect environment for people to meet and form friendships. Although Pure Barre has over 500 studios nationwide, each studio is a tight-knit community of like-minded individuals where clients are encouraged and supported in their goals, both inside and outside of the studio.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We just completed full renovations at both studios. I couldn’t be more happy with the new, modern, fresh look! I plan to keep both Allen and McKinney studios running as they are now. We have an amazing, inspiring team of teachers and staff and a community of clients who are like family. I look forward to many more years of helping others achieve their fitness goals, building friendships and changing lives in Allen & McKinney!
