Meet Angie Hines of Elegance With Attitude in North Richland HIlls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Hines.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved working with flowers and creating things but my true passion for flowers started when my own daughter got married 7 years ago at the beautiful Robert Carr Chapel at TCU. We had invited 300 people and when we started pricing flowers, we were amazed (and a little terrified) at the costs. A girlfriend and my mom both offered to help me with the table décor, bouquets, etc., and the week of the wedding, our home was full of buckets and buckets of flowers. It was a crazy time but full of happy chaotic memories, we even managed to host a lingerie shower in between designing. We received so many compliments on the flowers and soon friends, family, TCU students and schools were calling me to see if I would consider doing their wedding flowers, event or prom……and Elegance With Attitude was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been bumps in the road. Brides have envisioned this day for so long and I knew I was going to be responsible for making their dream wedding come to life; I wanted everything to be perfect. But in business, like life, nothing is ever perfect. Flowers come in and they’re the wrong color, flowers go out of season, or crazy ice storms hit and your wholesaler is closing down so they won’t deliver your wedding and you have to bring all the flowers you designed home so your husband can help you deliver them to your bride the next day on slippery Texas roads. When you have your own business, you learn to adjust and plan for mishaps along the way.

Building a business, takes time and inventory and knowing what things are needed for your business to grow and what items are just added expenses. It’s finding the right bridal shows, the right people to help when your business starts taking off and also learning to delegate. I am a very hands on person and want everything to be a certain way, every flower exactly right, etc., but when you have the right team around you, everything falls into place and you realize those arrangements and bouquets are exactly what you pictured!

Elegance With Attitude – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a family owned company and are extremely honored that a majority of our leads are referrals. We do about 50 weddings/events a year and take pride in our ability to really listen to each of our clients when we meet with them to go over the details for their wedding/event.

I personally meet with each client and do my best to de-stress and recommend ways to create their vision but stay in their budget. We follow-up with them through-out the wedding process and always show up early to give them 110% on the big day. We are blessed with such sweet brides and families that take time to leave us amazing reviews and recommend us to other brides and families. They’ve helped us win Couples Choice awards several years in a row.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is doing something you love and helping other people while doing it. That’s why I love my job so much! I love working with people and flowers and when I combine the two together and I see their faces the day of the wedding/event, my heart is full.
