Meet Anne Shackelford of Chrysalis Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Shackelford.

Anne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In sum, I have been making people beautiful since 1997.

I also specialize in acrylic on canvas, colored pencil and ink drawings, leather crafting, costume design, jewelry making and bodypainting.

My passion for wellness and fitness led me to yoga practice, but soon after I realized how yoga truly balances and transforms your mind, body and soul.

I was 19 when my mother suggested beauty school. Since I had no direction I chose to become a hairstylist as a means to put myself through college. Soon after I was in the thick of classes I realized I really loved doing hair! I finished with an art associates and continued to pursue my career as a hairstylist, then artist, then body painter. A few years ago, I fell into yoga practice which continues to reshape my life on a daily basis. I am blessed to have the love and support of my friends and family, life is good.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chrysalis Austin – what should we know?
I have been an independent contractor for 18 years now. I still love being a hairstylist which in turn has opened doors for me to pursue my arts. I wouldn’t say a specialize in one thing. I enjoy creating anything I can think up. I build things, I fix things, I make things, I create beauty in such a chaotic world. I try hard to share whatever I learn, I love teaching yoga. I am proud to have established my career as an artist in so many facets. What sets anyone apart? Moment to moment we are all unique and have something to offer each other, we just need to find it.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creating beauty. “Nothing is more powerful than beauty in a wicked world.”
