Meet Ariel Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Palmer.

Hi Ariel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been a makeup artist for over 10 years. I fell in love with makeup when I was a member of my high school band and color guard in Mississippi. We had to wear makeup for our performances. I enjoyed getting makeup applied by the upperclassmen, and I started to learn how to apply makeup on myself by watching YouTube.

I started to practice with family and friends to further develop my skills. I landed my first job in the beauty industry as a consultant for Sephora. My makeup skills grew while working there because Sephora offers a lot of training and education in makeup artistry. I then went on to work for Mac Cosmetics, Ultra Beauty, and Nars. I no longer work for any brands. The skills I acquired over the years in the beauty industry allowed me to take a leap of faith and become a freelance makeup artist. My brand is Ariel Palmer Beauty, LLC.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I recently moved from Chicago, IL to Dallas. It’s always an obstacle starting over in a new city and building new clientele. With that said, my experience in Dallas has been great. I’m building a growing my business at a steady rate by networking and joining social groups.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in special occasions and bridal makeup. I create elevated makeup looks that enhance the natural beauty of each client. Everyone who sits in my chair enjoys a very relaxing makeup experience. Some clients even fall asleep because my technique and hand are very light. I am known for a makeup style that can be referred to as “soft glam.” Soft glam is makeup that accentuates a client’s features instead of overpowering them. I enjoy this career because I am able to connect with so many women by sharing my gift with them. Nothing warms my heart more than their reactions after I am done with their makeup. I enjoy connecting with others through my art and engaging in great conversation when they are open to it. I am working to continue to expand my clientele and offer more services, including lessons and makeup classes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think luck has played any part in my business. I genuinely show up for my clients and do great business. I am always responsive and show respect. I believe doing things in this manner has allowed me to be successful in building a business.
