Meet Ashlee Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Wilson.

Hi Ashlee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I remember being in middle school and always wanting to be a part of the yearbook committee. I wanted to capture all of my school’s important events and moments. Unfortunately, I could not because sports occupied the majority of my time. Time passed, and one day I was sitting in my dorm room, and I thought to myself, it’s time. I decided to buy my first camera when I was in college. From there, I started attending local events to take pictures and grow my portfolio. I began with graduation photos, and my vision came to life, which is now my business, Kodak By Ash.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge was stepping out on faith and believing in myself and my craft. I created this vision of what I wanted and how I wanted to see my imagination come to life, but self-doubt often got in my way. Once I conquered this doubt, I was able to start perfecting my craft. While the road has been far from smooth, the obstacles have allowed me to develop as an artist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider myself a portrait photographer. I specialize in special events and studio photography. I am most proud of the support I have received. It has built my self-confidence as a photographer. I have enjoyed seeing my vision come to life.

What sets me apart from other photographers is that I am determined to create an experience for my clients. I want them to build their self-confidence and leave feeling better than they did coming in. It is more than just taking photos for me; I aim to create a memorable experience.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory was getting to travel across the country with my sister and my dad since he is a truck driver. I loved seeing the different types of scenery.
