Meet Beverly Foster of Divine Girls Home in Kennedale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Foster.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Beverly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2009, I became a foster parent which gave me the opportunity to fulfill my passion for helping at risk youth. As I was eagered to help kids, I noticed that the need was with everyone involved in the fostering care system. I observed  how these kids were mistreated because of their need for help. Its not their fault they’re placed in foster care. Some of these kids are sent from home to home with no one taking the time to understand why. Their clothes packed in trash bags as if they’re trash. They are sent to RTC, which is often times worse than being with foster parents. As I observed different kids and families, I knew I wanted to do more so that’s when I started Divine Girls Home.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s a hard path because no one appears to care about the kids in foster care. It is pertinent that we ask: What if this was my child? The challenges that I face include: findings a suitable building for housing, a landlord willing to house a group of girls, zoning, money, and genuine cooperation.

Divine Girls Home – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We do for everyone, most of the funds comes from my husband and I.  We go out once a month to feed the homeless. We provide Thanksgiving for less fortunate, school clothes and help with Christmas. Divine Girls Home is always willing to help people regardless of the background or situation. Our love and help is genuine to all that we encounter.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I don’t have that yet when I see one of the kids succeed, that would be my proudest
