Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenden Williams.
Brenden, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey of taking pictures started ten years ago in 2009 at the age of 12 when my mother bought my first camera which was a small silver Kodak camera. I started to take my camera everywhere to capture family, friends, and also myself. My mom saw the passion I had before I did and has been my biggest supporter. In 2012 for Christmas my mom bought my first dslr which was a Canon T3i that’s when I took photography very serious and knew this was a gift I was blessed with.
I remember my first actual photoshoot my client show their friend the pictures and they ask them: “Who shot ya?” They responded: ”Bren shot me”. And that’s when I took it upon myself to name my business “BrenShotYa”. My love for photography has changed my life. I enjoy the great vibes and smiles on people’s faces when they see pictures of themselves on my camera.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I faced many struggles and challenges getting more involved in photography. In the beginning, I used to find myself getting discouraged because another photographer’s work was way better than mines because he had a $1,000 camera or just criticism from people.
Over time, I started to notice the negative energy that made push my craft harder and didn’t give up. After constantly practicing and learning more about my camera, equipment, natural light, and etc as time fly by, I realized that it’s not about what type of camera and equipment you have but who is behind the camera. I learn that everybody might not see what you see until you bring it to life by creating your own style.
Please tell us about your work.
I am a Dallas photographer that specializes in portrait and event photography such as lifestyle, fashion, urban, and self-portrait. What sets BrenShotYa apart is that I go above and beyond in every shoot I do to help with poses, face expression, etc. If you and I can’t feel that picture then nobody else will. My job is not done until I see that emotion full of joy on the client’s face when they see their pictures.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would like to do-over on some of my mistakes in the past. At the time I didn’t know a lot about the industry and how everything worked versus what I know now. However on the other hand of my mistakes I’ve eventually found growth from it. With that being said it’s not much I would’ve done differently. Every photographer including myself I’ve met has a point in life filled with insecurities in their craft. Over time I learn that consistency and being humble and learn as much as you can, worked for me.
