Meet Brigitte Mena and Trevor Wilson of TBA in East Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigitte Mena and Trevor Wilson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Originally, we met through one of Trevor’s former roommates. With similar interests in mind, we started recording a few covers and booking shows around the Dallas area. After a few months, we built up enough material and were ready to start taking on performing full time. We now play at various bars, restaurants, and festivals about 3-5 times per week. It’s been super fun and rewarding, and we’re excited for the future.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The beginning was definitely the hardest. We’ve always been musicians, but the business side of music was new to us. We had to learn how to build a brand and business for ourselves, while managing the performing side of it too. Once we had our website and business built up, people started taking us more seriously and booking shows became easier.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about TBA – what should we know?
We are a folk/pop and soul duo from Dallas, Texas. We are known for our polished harmonies and charming stage presence, featuring acoustic guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and percussion. You can find us playing songs from The Civil Wars, The Head and the Heart, and The Fleet Foxes, all the way to Al Green, Otis Redding, and Marvin Gaye. We are also in the process of recording an album of original music. While we frequently perform as an acoustic duo, we also play with a full band, showcasing upright bass and drums.

If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
We’ve had a quick and natural progression and are thankful to have been as successful as we have been this past year. We wouldn’t want to change any part of the process, as we’ve learned how to create our own business and overcome the obstacles together.
