Meet Brik.Liam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brik.Liam.

Jacoby “Brik.Liam” Williams was born in Petersburg, Virginia and reared in Germany & Houston, TX. His frequent relocation is a result of his military family upbringing. Cultivated in diverse backgrounds and raised in the church with his mother as head of the choir, Brik was exposed to different genres of music that influenced his current sound. Brik.Liam’s early introduction to music helped shape his outlook on music and creativity. Now as an artist, Brik.Liam is in a league of his own, fusing classic soul vibes like the sound of Marvin Gaye with the urban contemporary music fans are accustomed to today.

The stage name Brik.Liam is a two-part compilation: “Brik”– a synonym search of his favorite color, red and “Liam”– an abbreviation of his last name. Brik.Liam also has a signature image of a floating, red balloon that helps fans to identify his work in any setting. Brik’s perspective on artistry and his contribution to the music industry today can be described as poetic and unconventional, which adds to his unique appeal.

“I disagree when people label music ‘real’ as if other music isn’t. I simply want to be myself and show other people that it’s okay for them to do that, too. My goal in creating music and art is to make people feel understood, heard, and to make better choices and find happiness because of the telling of my story. I want to grow their minds and imagination, little by little.”

Brik.Liam’s career has evolved to greater success in recent years. He released an EP, has performed with some of the industry’s brightest talent and showcased his music across the globe. Notably, Brik has toured the United States as an opening performer for Grammy-winning artist PJ Morton during the More Gumbo tour, in 2018. Since then, Brik.Liam also completed a solo tour in Russia and signed a record deal with Morton Records under which he has just recently released his newest single “Some Other Dude”. Brik.Liam is constantly creating to ensure his fans are never left too long without new, impactful music.

Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! Personal life though it always inspires my art and makes it great, it still is a struggle and that’s usually what causes the most trouble. Finding the balance is key, and the lesson that you’re always having to learn.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a singer/songwriter and visual artist. I just create art, to inspire others to create and make people feel something.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
To me, Dallas is not too fast but it’s not too slow either. I love the architecture here as well. All the museums etc. And to be honest, I don’t get out as much as I could, so I’m not too familiar with things I don’t like. Lol.
