Thanks for sharing your story with us Brittanee and Kelvin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Puddin’ Shoppe began as a hobby (which it still is). My infamous banana pudding was a favorite of many family and friends and was requested for birthdays, events, and even just because. It got to a point where a family member and a friend both wanted to PAY for the pudding and then the idea dawned on me to make it a business. The Puddin Shoppe officially opened June 24, 2019 and has been happily whipping up multiple pudding flavors since. We curated the name and all the specialty flavors and have been building our brand since. We offer puddin’ in ways it has never been offered before and although we did not expect it to grow at the pace it is, we are proud and excited for everything The Puddin’ Shoppe has in store for the near and far future.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is never smooth, but calm seas don’t make for great swimmers anyway! Being first-time business owners includes a lot of learning as you go. There is a TON of sacrifices and it requires mental fortitude as well. These things can be even more challenging when you have two people coming together to produce one idea. We have learned a lot about the dessert/food industry, deliveries, finances, customer service, and balance. We can confidently say each and every step is well worth the time and effort when it comes to creating our ideal brand. Blood, sweat, and tears are an understatement, but we wouldn’t trade the struggles because we always come out with a lesson. The Puddin shoppe has been and will always be worth the challenge.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Puddin’ Shoppe story. Tell us more about the business.
The Puddin Shoppe is a dessert brand that specializes in puddin’. We make several different types of puddin’ desserts from actual twist on the classic banana puddin style desserts, to puddin’ stuffed cupcakes, to fried puddin’! SO in a nutshell, we specialize in Puddin! That is what we are known for!
We are most proud of how pure our business is. We built all of our recipes and ideas by brainstorming and getting in the kitchen to experiment. We had full confidence in everything we put together and knew when we shared it with our customers, it would be a hit. We pride ourselves on providing quality desserts and service.
What sets us apart is our continuous desire to be innovative. We have been pushing boundaries since the beginning and continue to find ways to adapt no matter what the situation is.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see BIG changes coming for the food industry, especially with what is going on with COVID-19. Dining in is something that is changing as a whole. Easy access to the foods you enjoy is something that is becoming more and more important to consumers. With things like delivery services and access lockers, traditional ways of providing desserts is changing. It is important to think about those things from a business perspective. How can we make sure we are staying in line with what the customer demands? How can we make sure we are still upholding our companies values? Change is always inevitable when it comes to business, so flexibility is a must.
