Meet Brittany Myricks of Ellegant Weddings and Events in Addison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Myricks.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I feel as though I am fairly new still to the Dallas scene as I moved here from California a little over two years ago. Born and raised in Southern California, I knew Dallas was a place I wanted to move to and make a life and a name for myself. After I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in design and advertising from the University of New Mexico, I moved back home to California to save much money as I could to be able to move out to Dallas. A few passions of mine led me out here. The first is I knew I wanted to break into event planning and networking so I created my company “Ellegant Weddings and Events”. Currently, I work as a marketing manager at and emergency room in which I go around the community and promote the emergency room, go to different networking events and put on different events for the Dallas Police and Fire Departments. While I am currently in my career field I would love to run my own business and be an entrepreneur full time.

In addition to that, another passion of mine that brought me out to Dallas is dance. I had a different background than most professional cheerleaders out here since I was running track since I was seven while all my peers were in ballet classes. I didn’t realize my passion for dance till actually pretty late in the game. I took one dance class in my junior year of high school and fell in love with it. I loved it so much that my senior year I actually quit the track team because I made the dance team! Even though that was an amazing year, I was quickly reminded that college life was approaching and unfortunately no one was handing out scholarships to “18-year-old newbie dancer Brittany”. I got accepted into a local community college where I did in fact have to keep running track. In the end, it paid off as I received a full track and field scholarship to the University of New Mexico. While there, I continued my education and graduated Magna Cum Laude. It was a huge blessing and I thank God for the opportunity and experiences I had there. However, in the back of my mind, I would always wonder what it was like to be a cheerleader at my university. So, the dance dream never died. Fast forward to now, where I have saved up money to move out to Dallas on my own to pursue none other than… The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

My decision to pursue a spot on that team is simply because they are hands down the best dance team in the NFL. To make that team as a dancer who didn’t have all the resources that most dancers had growing up and came from a different background, I want to show younger girls that regardless of your past, with hard work, you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. I have tried out twice already and made it to finals so next year in May 2020, I am praying and planning to go all the way and make that team. Creeping up on three years in Dallas, I spent my last two years as an Allen Americans Ice Angel where I studied, danced and got experience under Stephanie DiBiase (master choreographer for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders). All in all, my experiences here, Dallas has been nothing short of amazing and I owe that to the support of my family, friends and above all, God. I am excited to see what God holds for me and I train this next year to try out for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in May 2020 in hopes to make the team in addition to furthering my entrepreneurial career as I take my event planning business to new heights.

Has it been a smooth road?
Moving and adjusting to life on my own has not been easy. I have faced challenges in my health, finances, and career-wise, but I will say by the grace of God, He has gotten me through many trials. No one ever said it would be easy chasing your dreams.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ellegant Weddings and Events – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Currently, I am the founder of “Ellegant Weddings and Events”. It is a full-service wedding and event planning company. I have always been a planner so making a passion into a career is something not many get to experience. I love the entire process of planning events and to see events come together and memories made for my clients is a blessing. Being a Christian, we are taught to serve others and I do absolutely believe that God put this talent and vision in my heart for a reason. Not only just because I love to do it but to be able to allow the love and light of God shine through me to clients is absolutely amazing.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Oh Dallas… making this my new home, I have explored the city and have embraced so many things about it. One thing I love is the hospitality and the community you experience. I have been welcomed with open arms by so many different people from so many different walks of life who are on a journey of their own and it has truly been beautiful.

Another thing I will say… coming from California… one thing for sure is the traffic. Compared to Los Angeles traffic, Dallas traffic is a breeze. It is super convenient to get around town and make a downtown adventure an afternoon trip rather than a “you better dedicate your entire 24 hours to make a downtown LA trip”. Lol.

One thing I like least is the weather… you can literally have all four seasons happen in one afternoon in Dallas, it’s so crazy! But hey, that’s Texas for ya and even then, I’ve learned to embrace it.
