Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Holton.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing musical production at the age of 16 back in Pompano Beach Fl, I was always a musical person. I believe I had no choice but to become musical, because of both of my parents who were singers. My father “A Gospel Quartet” and my mother a Choral/Opera vibe. LoL… So in my house growing up everyone could sing even the dog!
But seriously music is a huge passion of mines. So I started the company BoyLion Media after getting my music out to a major radio station with little to no help or management. Just my family and closest friends who believe in me. Posting and reposting music or songs I’ve produced.
I have to say I’m blessed even though I may not have the traditional settings “Record Label, financial backing, street team or Distribution” What I have is Jesus and he is my resource on how I’m able to be interviewed on such platforms as this. With my company, I plan on bridging the gap between old and young as well as different ethnicities and backgrounds by giving them great music and Also teaching how the can make the same.
As an artist, I’ve been able to promote my own productions Because every time the stations play my music the I sing as an Artist they are also playing my compositions as well. As a self-taught musician/writer, I am grateful for every opportunity including this one!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been tough without funding and the rise of false artistry, “some companies are releasing content that isn’t always honest or of the best quality by imagination so imagine what that does to the young artist is of substance breaking into to the business just to hear that he or she needs to compromise to succeed! #Buzzkill
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BoyLion Media/ Byron Holton “Artist” story. Tell us more about the business.
I write song about everyday struggle, relationships, loss, love and triumph all while staying connected to my spiritual beliefs. What sets my aside is that “I am like a tailor” I get to know the artist, I literally do homework on them so that when I write it’s almost as if i”m them when they sing it, same goes for my “Beatz” I ask questions like “who’s your favorite artist or who inspires you?” Put it all together and there you have a recipe for good music that is true to the artist.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
NO luck just God’s Plan! Romans 8:28.
