Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Christine Prentice.
Camille Christine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became a professional singer-songwriter in 2009 after launching my company, Spirit of Excellence Music, in December 2008. My company offers copyright services, performance art and vocal lessons, and songwriting services. I have written and produced songs and spoken word pieces for myself and other artists, and I am the recipient of the 2012 PrayzeFactor Awards “Best Neo-Soul Gospel Artist” in the Solo Artist category. I began singing in 1990, and I’ve had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City on two occasions. I have a degree in Music (Vocal Performance) and experience as a background and studio session vocalist, in addition to my own recording and performance career. I’ve released two solo CD projects; Glorify You (2010), and Real. Life. Worship. (2016), appeared on two compilation CD projects; PrayzeFactor Compilation (2012), and The Love Project (2013). My single (Your Love) was featured on the soundtrack of an independent movie entitled “The Perfect Wife” (2016), and another single (Souls In The Darkness) was featured on a television show entitled “Undercover Detective” (2017). I am currently recording music for my upcoming EP “Reality of Love” scheduled for release in October 2019.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have encountered many difficulties and struggles along this journey including: surviving an abusive marriage, divorce, major illnesses, and surgeries. I am grateful to have survived these challenges and even more excited about the freedom and joy I am experiencing at this point in my life.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Spirit of Excellence Music story. Tell us more about it.
Spirit of Excellence Music is my parent company. We offer copyrighting services, songwriting services, artist development, vocal lessons, and performance services for events and concerts. I’m happy to provide music that blends Neo Soul, R & B, and Jazz elements to form a soulfully unique sound.
P31 Chick (and Virtue Girl) is my t-shirt company promoting the Godly virtue of the Proverbs 31 woman from the Bible with eye-catching slogans and designs for all ages.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’ve recently begun to garner international attention in the form of exposure, support, and radio airplay in London, UK with DJ Jairzinho and the Lovefreeness radio show on iLive radio. I’m excited about the opportunities and ability to share my musical gift overseas and abroad.
