Today we’d like to introduce you to Caris Ajuzie.
Caris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I developed an interest for e-commerce as early as 2008. I am an avid online shopper and used to hate going to the mall. I was quite fascinated by Amazon and wanted to recreate something like that.
In 2011, I coined a name for the store “Porschstores” but the execution was still vague and I didn’t know how to start neither did I have any money to. By 2013, a friend advised me to just take a leap of faith and try as much as I could.
Ever since it has been a constant experiment and learning process. By 2016, I finally got my store as close to my vision as I have ever been. It currently is a fashion hub with clothing from independent brands from across the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. In 2014, I decided it was a good idea to quit. I closed down my store but still kept the domain. I could not stop thinking about it. So, I went back to the drawing board. When you are starting something with very little information there will always be roadblocks.
I love to come up with ideas, but executing and marketing isn’t my forte. With this business, I have had to teach myself a lot of things and have learned to be flexible and open-minded/ready to learn.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Porschstores – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Porschstores is a fashion hub geared towards the busy lady who doesn’t want to visit multiple sites to find different aspects of her outfit.
Porschstores offers a wide variety of clothing items and accessories. I source clothing from all over the world and always pay attention to quality. there is also a styling service because over the years I have come to find out that some people do not have the time to spend countless hours trying to figure out what works which is where I come in. The difference is Porschstores is that Personal touch. Countless times, I have people who reach out just to talk about their difficulties in finding what they need and we always end the conversation with them being happy and confident in the final decision.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity and opportunity in Dallas. I moved out here from a small city in Alabama. And there is so much opportunity and untapped resources. If there was something I didn’t like it’d be how big it is. You can almost get intimidated by it.
