Meet Cassandra Stephens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Stephens.

Hi Cassandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Our History The conception of The Love Cafe began 9 years ago in February 2013 on DFWi Radio. We then later moved to the Fishbowl Radio Network in May that same year. Its’ original hosts were Cassandra aka (Jazzy) and Tarus Monroe (Tody Tee). When meeting with the Program Director Dwayne Gordan, he asked, “What’s the name of your show ??? We didn’t Know! He asked well what do you like to talk about. I said, “Love of all kinds, spirituality, relationships, family, community, and oh yes of course music”.

That was the birth of “The Luv Cafe”.

In 2018 we changed The Luv Cafe to the Love Cafe Radio, clarifying the true definition of Love; understanding the fact that the world does need more Love. With this minor change, The Love Cafe brings focus on the characteristics of what love truly is (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) and applying that Love in everyday life (Mark 12:30-31).

In 2018 we had 3 great Co-Host Kisha Grandy, the songbird, actor, writer, and recording artist; Hershey Beamer, the “One Word” poet with unique spontaneous poems; and Parris Greer aka “Dr. Hope”, Mike Frazier and Willie Turner ( aka DJ Witty)  singer, songwriter, and worship leader with a message of Hope to the nations.

The Love Cafe is the winner of 5 Sharky Awards; Best Female Host; Team Player of The Year; Best Duo Team of the Year; Program Director of the Year; and Best Female Blog/Radio. The Love Cafe has reached boundaries that surpasses the domestic borders, showcasing international artists from Italy, Austria, and the Ukraine. We’ve also interviewed prestigious with icons like Dick Gregory, Coco Brown, Hawthorne James, and local ministries, and non-profits spreading love.

With every event hosted by The Love Cafe, we donate ten percent of all proceeds from our 4 events a year to feed and clothe the homeless, we call it “Love in Action”; believing that LOVE WINS!!!

2020-2022 posed a problem because of COVID and all donations from listeners we’re donated to different homeless ministries that are on the front line of fighting hunger.

Those organization are Twofish and five loves of Fort Worth, McQueen Foundation fighting hunger, and Metrocare Dallas.

Jazzy is flying solo this year yet connecting with many partners as she will be feature many co-host each week.

Jazzy was featured on the Investigation ID channel Lonesome Cowboy after a faithful listener Ron Shumway came up missing she reached out to find out what had happened to him.

We have launched Soulfood Sunday hosted by Jazzy’s daughter De’Amber Stephens and Cassidy Stephens Sundays at 3 on YouTube and Facebook and also Love Cafe After Dark host by Janie Picket Fridays at 9:00 PM.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Love is what everyone wants but is not a popular topic. The challenges are it takes work to promote positive messages in the climate we live in. Love is an action word. Promoting and fundraising has been a challenge, but we are dedicated to providing food for at least 100 homeless each month whether it is cooking and distribution of food or planting a seed into other Frontline ministries fighting hunger.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My professional career was in sales and Sales training, which allowed me to touch a lot of different people from various backgrounds, I noticed no matter where we are from and who we are we are just 1 sickness, 1 accident 1 tragedy away from homelessness. I have a passion for music and used it in my training, always making it about life’s lessons and relationships. We can’t exist without each other. What set me apart? Lol we play the Best Love Music, we have the best guest and listeners, and I believe love is the best investment we can make in our lives.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I always loved music, laughter and used them both to express myself. I was a leader before I really knew what a leader was. My mother always encourages us to be our best selves. She was my superhero as a single parent I always thought we were rich; she would feed everybody, and we always helped stranger during the holidays.
