Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie StJohn.
Cassie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a love for working with children. Even as a small kid, I remember I loved playing “School” and pretending I was a teacher.
In my early 20’s, I worked as a nanny and was a Sunday school teacher at our church. I began college to become a teacher but well… Life got in the way and I had to put my dreams on hold.
Years passed and I met my husband and we got married in 2013. That’s when becoming a mom came storming to the forefront and we began trying for our family.
We didn’t know it would take us four very long years and hundreds of medications before welcoming our miracle baby October of 2018.
After a friend no longer could care for my newborn son, I found myself looking for childcare and I kept hitting a dead end. I couldn’t find what I was looking for and just prayed I would find a solution.
Thats when I found myself incredibly unhappy in my career and started seeking my passion again.
A friend began to tell me about her business in doing in-home childcare which she has been doing for seven years.
She started helping me in my journey and “Happy Morning Daycare” was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
Our infertility journey was an extremely hard one and I found myself in a very dark place. With every baby announcement and every negative pregnancy test, I got deeper an deeper in my sadness. No one really talks about infertility so woman are forced to fake a smile and struggle through it alone. They slowly begin to isolate themselves and slowly start sinking into a sadness that breaks you to your core.
At my saddest, I started a Facebook group called “StJohnPack” where I shared my journey and encouraged other woman going through the same thing as me. This is where I not only made some amazing friends but where I also found the encouragement I desperately needed. I truly became an enormous blessing in my darkest time.

Happy Morning Daycare is an In-Home daycare for children two years and up. I have created a fun and uplifting learning space where creativity and individuality is celebrated. I am most proud of the relationships I have built with the children and families.
When I was looking for childcare before starting “Happy Morning” that is what I was looking for in a provider.
To not only find care but to be able to bond with the person that was watching my child. I couldn’t find this in any childcare I searched for.
I think thats what sets me apart from all the other daycares out there. I want to establish a trusting and close relationship with the kids and their parents. I set up playdates outside of daycare hours so we can bond on a different level. Every family that comes through the doors I want to have open communication and a trusting bond.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think the DFW area is such a great place for business. I definitely would recommend DFW to people wanting to start a business.
