Meet Cherish Isokariari of Cherish Your Beauty LLC in Garland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherish Isokariari.

Cherish, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma. My love for the beauty industry started at a young age. I was told by my older sisters that I started playing in makeup by the age of three, of course, I could not remember that. I do remember teaching myself how to braid hair by the age of 13. I continued to braid my hair and my friend’s hair, however, I had to on my mom’s porch, because she would not let me in the house, she stated it was too messy, with all the products, combs and brushes everywhere.

By the age of 15, I dyed my hair honey blonde, I got so many compliments I began to do my friend’s hair and makeup just for fun in high school. Shortly after graduating high school, I enrolled into Cosmetology College in 2009, I took the most interest in braiding, hair color, makeup and extensions. I received my Cosmetology License at the age of 19, however, my career did not take off until relocating to the Dallas area in 2014. I had to hustle to build my brand from scratch while working in a commission salon by day and attending the Cosmetology Instructor program by night. I knew getting my instructor license would take me to the next level, I received my Instructor license in 2016.

During that time, I had been promoted as a salon manager at the company I was with, but it all came crashing down in 2018 when the salon closed down. I knew I had to take a leap of faith and become an Independent hairstylist and needed to take another business venture. I took business classes, obtained my LLC and by 2019, I created Cherish Your Beauty LLC and also created a beauty product line of luxury lashes, lipstick, and edge control and lip glosses. I am honored to have had contestants from the hit TV show The Rap Game wear my beauty products. I always make sure I give back, by donating my time and skill to homeless shelters and nursing homes by providing hair and makeup services. I continue to educate myself by attending hair shows and continued education courses, to better my skill as a Cosmetologist. In this Industry, you can never stop growing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There has been many struggles, while in cosmetology school, I had no transportation, I had to ride the bus back and forth in the rain, sleet and snow, however, it did not stop me because I knew I had a goal I had to reach. I graduated with 100 percent attendance and an A Average. I do not believe in excuses, if you want to achieve, you have to keep striving. It was very challenging to start over, to move from another state and build your career over, especially in the beauty industry, you have to build relationships with people and at that time, advertising by foot and word of mouth was the only way to get clients.

The most challenging obstacle was suffering a miscarriage during the process of starting over when the salon, I managed closed down while trying to build my brand as an independent hairstylist, I wanted to give up, you feel hopeless after losing your child and at that moment, had no will to keep pushing and suffered a deep depression. I pulled myself together, stayed positive and kept focused on my goal. I knew I had to because I could not quit and I knew as an educator and mentor, I could help other girls through my trials and tribulations.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cherish Your Beauty LLC – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

I am proud that I give back with doing services to homeless shelters and nursing homes, you never know how your life will be, anyone can fall on hard times and be those situations and a simple hairstyle or haircut can make a difference in someone’s life. I am most proud of having obtained a Cosmetology License, Instructor License and a product line all before the age of 30, to be able to not only make your clients beautiful but to be able to educate them, and offer products to them all at once is such a blessing. I feel what sets me apart of other business is the actual knowledge I have behind it. Some people just open businesses for money, you have to have a true passion to survive in this business.
