Meet Christian Figueroa of Figueroa.Lens Photography in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Figueroa.

Christian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in high school, I was taking Journalism and Yearbook as my electives. I was assigned to cover the women’s volleyball game that was going on that week. During the game, I pulled out my Canon Point and Shoot camera when our team celebrated their victory against the visiting team. I wish I would still have that image to show you guys what made me realize my passion for photography. Since that day, I have continued working on my passion and I have started my own photography business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It would be a lie if I said that being a photographer has been fun and games. When starting my business, I had a lot of support from family and friends but I also had people that didn’t see my potential. From clients canceling on me last minute to others not paying. It’s difficult but it has helped me grow as an individual and has pushed me to continue pursuing my dream.

Please tell us about Figueroa.Lens Photography.
Figueroa.Lens Photography doesn’t focus on just one kind photography. From wedding photoshoots to newborn photoshoots we specialize about every kind of photoshoot. I believe Figueroa.Lens Photography is known for capturing special moments in life. I’m proud of everything that has happened towards the company even if it’s been a negative experience you end up learning from it and continue to push through it.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had the opportunity to start over, what I would have done differently was to start promoting my work at an earlier stage. At the beginning, I was shy and didn’t speak much about my work. Over the years, I have taken myself out of that little hole and started to open up about my work.
