Meet Christian Tovar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Tovar.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for people and community. I think that stems from the way I grew up. I grew up with tons of cousins and was involved in church where I met new people all the time. I’m a person that isn’t comfortable being comfortable so naturally, I seek out new things all the time. My Instagram was private for quite some time but I began to notice that my inner circle would seek me out for recommendations and would heavily engage when I shared new things. I threw around the idea of starting a blog about two years ago. I originally wanted to start it with friends but a life-altering event happened and I lost the momentum. After dealing with grief, I decided that my findings were worth sharing. I kept hearing this voice that I needed to share because there may be a girl that’s just like me out there looking for inspiration, encouragement, or a new concealer. This is how thecandidlifeofchristian.com was birthed. I manage a lifestyle blog focused on fitness, beauty, travel, food, fashion, and everything in between.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I think the hardest part for me has been balancing a full-time job and my blog. I’ve never been a planner and I quickly learned that I was going to have to use a planner to keep my head in order. Time management is also very essential. I always thought I was good but when you have to manage a blog and everything that comes with it, you have to be very particular.

What else should our readers know?
The Candid Life of Christian is a lifestyle blog where I share my personal musings. I cover a little bit of everything including fitness, travel, and beauty. I am most known for the fitness content on my blog. It’s a little different from most fitness bloggers in that I try to keep a good balance of inspirational and informational. Actually, I try to stray from inspirational captions because there are enough people doing that out there. I like to focus on the fact that health and wellness isn’t a chore but a lifestyle. You don’t have to deprive yourself of a burger or a cookie but also know that you have to get your butt moving. It’s all about balance.

My mission from the start was to keep my blog as real as possible. While Instagram is a collection of highlights and pretty moments, I want to make sure I’m providing value by being candid with my followers.

I am most proud of the connections I make via this platform. I love when someone writes me and tells me they can relate to something I shared or tell me they tried something I shared. I love engaging with my Instagram friends and building relationships even if we never meet in person.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Digital Media changes every day that it’s so hard to predict where the influencer/blogger industry will be in one year. The one thing I make sure for myself is that I continue to update my website even if it’s one post a month. Social media can disappear in a matter of seconds but if people truly care, they’ll know where to find me. In terms of trends, I foresee video continuing to grow. IG stories are so popular right now. I’m curious to see how Instagram TV or YouTube will evolve.
