Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Carter.
Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in the trucking industry in 2017. That’s when I got my CDL class A license. I had just left my job, had my car repossessed and my back was against the wall. My family was depending on my success so I had to make trucking work. It was an all-or-nothing situation.
Fast forward to my first year behind the wheel of a semi-truck. I started my trucking company, made my first six figures, and due to poor budgeting habits, I mismanaged all of but enough money to buy a cash car.
While on the road I knew there was a money issue. I lacked financial literacy but I would listen to eBooks, read financial blogs, and listen to podcasts about money. It was like going back to school in my truck.
Several months after my first year of trucking I came home to do some local work. During this time, I created a financial planner for truckers to help them budget and keep track of their spending habits while out on the road.
To this day I have 5-6 books I’ve created some unreleased that I promote via my website, YouTube, and other social media outlets under the name Chrisleetv.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road I chose to travel was not smooth at all both figuratively and literally.
Trucking can help with some financial issues, but it also is a lonely career.
Lots of times you are away from home and your family.
Not only that but trucking has many issues in itself. Trucks break down, accidents happen, and your patience is tested almost daily.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I started my trucking journey, I decided to document it and then put it out for the world to see via YouTube.
After gaining some traction I monetized my channel and began working on building different opportunities for my trucking & media company.
Most people online know me as The Online CDL Coach or Chrisleetv and with my brand, I have been able to create opportunities for people looking to get into the trucking industry.
On my website www.chrisleetv.com, I write helpful blogs, upload free downloadable content, host interviews, and work with other brands to help people no matter where they are in their trucking journey.
What sets me apart from others is my willingness to serve. It feels good when people send messages to me letting me know that something I did or created helped them on their path. That’s what I’m most proud of.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The trucking industry is always changing. Supply chain is an international market and it affects us all. In saying that I do see lots of changes coming to the industry with the involvement of new technologies. The trucking industry up until recently has been running on the same tech for decades, and I’m looking forward to the changes that are coming and being a part of it all.
