Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Tracy.
Christopher, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Started working for what would become Knox Street Postal over 20 years ago and bought store officially in 2003 and changed the name to Knox Street Postal shortly thereafter. We provide excellent customer service and our goal was to make your experience shipping with us better than any other place. Once the Knox Henderson area got a little too crowded and we had serious issues with parking we decided to relocate less than a 1/4 mile down on the Henderson Ave side and since we have things have been much better for me sales wise. As I was preparing for the relocation, I also decided to open a second location. Midtown Postal Center was opened on January 12th and is located in the United Texas Bank building right in front of Valley View Mall. However, the mall is scheduled to be demolished and will be soon replaced with what they are calling the “Midtown Development” which will bring new businesses and residents to the area and we are happy to be on the ground floor of that as well as the go to shipping location in the Midtown Area. Also, Knox Street Postal Center is located in another area that is set to undergo a revitalization that will also bring more traffic to the “Henderson Ave” area as well. 2 Great locations.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have worked very hard to keep my business going of course. A lot of people think that when you own a business that you have “made it” and you have a backyard filled with money trees but that is hardly the case as I actually still maintain a side job as a DJ with a residency at a local bar. I work very hard but there is nothing like being your own boss.
Please tell us about Midtown Postal Center/Knox Street Postal Center.
My stores specialize in packing and shipping UPS/FEDEX/DHL/USPS packages. We also rent private mailboxes as well as a host of other things such as Notary Public, Document Shredding, Key Duplication, Scan & Fax.
We are very efficient and very personable. The packing/shipping business has taken a hit with online stores and things of that nature but we have a very loyal group of customers who bring their packages to us to ship off and when you do good things for people the word get around.
Anyone who has walked into a post office to mail a letter or ship a package knows that the workers can be very non-personable and the thing that sets us apart is that when you walk into my stores we work very hard to make sure you leave happy and satisfied that your packages will get where they need to go.
We ask the right questions to determine what service is best for you.
It’s this type of goodwill that we provide that keeps our customer base growing.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My Grandfather was essentially my father and some of my greatest childhood memories are of our twice a year fishing trips to Canada… How I would stay awake and talk his ear off almost the entire drive up there (over 7 hours) to how we would park away from the places we would fish and quietly sneak up to our spots as to not scare the fish…. Lol. As a child I cannot think of anything more magical to me than that.
