Today we’d like to introduce you to Clint Stephens.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a third-generation printer. My grandfather and grandmother started printing in 1972. In 2008, I bought controlling interest from my parents and still maintain a partnership relationship with my dear mother. Since 2008 we have grown 500%. We have an 8500 square foot facility that is two stories. Our printing business occupies all of downstairs and some of up. We are a branding, graphics, print house. Precision Press specializes in brand creation and maintenance for small to medium sized businesses.
We design and print various marketing collateral such as business cards, flyers, brochures, letterhead, envelopes, forms, direct mail campaigns etc. Additionally, we have 4000 square feet of art gallery space and we hold 4-5 art shows a year. We are very plugged into our Arlington community and the culture of our city. It is important to us to promote the local business and artists. We feel that Arlington is bubbling under the surface with talented artisans and artists, and we want to be a place that promotes that culture and brings it above the surface. Precision Press believes that when you help those in need, promote culture, help the clients realize their true potential – that the sky is the limit.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every misstep, every mistake we have made has been integral in shaping who we are.
When I took over, we were in dire straights. We had a lot of debt. It was right at the beginning of a recession and local businesses were reeling. Since then we put customers first, tightened our belts where we could and continued to give where we could. Now we are virtually debt free, blessed and in a position to help others. The road has not always been easy, but it has been our path, and it has been exactly what was necessary to shape us into what we are now.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Precision Press Printing & Graphics story. Tell us more about the business.
What sets us apart is attention to detail, and the quality products we produce. We are the best source for small businesses who understand the value of a well branded business. We pride ourselves on being excellent communicators.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know about focusing on luck. Sure, we have been subject to the forces of the market – but hey, so has everyone else. We like to think that ours (and everyone’s for that matter) luck is based on and is a product of our actions.
