Today we’d like to introduce you to Cornell Kinderknecht.
Cornell is an award-winning recording artist, composer, performer and teacher of historic and ethnic woodwind instruments from cultures around the world. He is an Indian Summer Music Awards winner, a Great American Song Contest winner, a Grammy nominee, and has twice been a finalist for “Musician of the Year” at the Texas Music Awards. He has been a featured soloist at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. His music can be heard in film, television soundtracks and advertising. He has a studio of private world flutes students in Dallas and is a regular performer and presenter at workshops and music festivals throughout the US.
Cornell’s specialty in teaching is working with adults who’ve either always wanted to learn to play an instrument and those who may have played when they were young and want to get back into it. He has taught nearly 200 people to play Native American flute in his group classes in North Texas over the past nine years.
A lifelong musician, Cornell’s early roots were formed playing in the family band with his mother and siblings. He has played with many different groups in the genres of Classical, pop, folk and world music. In the 1990s and early 2000s, he took a break from public music performance for several years while he pursued a career in his other interest, software engineering. In the early 2000s, he began performing again and by around 2006 his music schedule had become so busy that he took a break from software engineering and now works full time as a musician, primarily as a freelance solo artist. He has released several award-winning albums and his work can be heard on numerous other musicians’ recordings in multiple genres.
In addition to his solo performance work and teaching, Cornell plays with Impending Bloom world music ensemble and Trio Giocoso early music ensemble. He is the director of the Pacific Northwest Native American Flute Gathering on Vashon Island and is co-director of music for the Dallas Recorder Society. Outside of music, Cornell is one of the directors of Dallas Meditation Center in Richardson, Texas.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think that a big challenge has been getting noticed in music genres that aren’t as visible in a market dominated by pop, rock and country music. Another challenge has been keeping visible while live music venues have become fewer and audiences migrate to online digital services rather than directly supporting the music creators.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cornell Kinderknecht – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is my music business, which consists of myself and the music that I create. I specialize in music for wind instruments from around the world. I think that it’s a very unique field. I think that what sets me apart is dedicated professionalism and musicianship mixed with a practical good nature that puts clients and students at ease.

What I like about the Dallas area is the wide diversity of cultures and backgrounds of the people that are here.
