Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Starting ten years ago, I began to get into makeup heavily. I was always that girl with the vivid eye shadow, bold lashes, and a pile of glitter on. Back then I often was frowned upon, because I was considered overkill or just too much for the occasion. It’s funny how in today’s society bold is the new norm.
For years, I have practiced my craft because I found it therapeutic and always made me feel good when I was down. In the recent years, close peers have encouraged me by saying hey you should open you up a business, It could be a great side hustle. I gave it some thought, even though I was skeptical at first, and finally decided to start one last year on April 4th.
Has it been a smooth road?
Anything worth having is worth fighting for, and I will fight and stand for my business. My business has not been a walk in the park, however, I am happy about the first year progress. Everyone supports you until It is really time to support you and sometimes It can get stressful. I pray over my business daily and know that with God’s help it will be as successful as it possibly can. I have faith that eventually It will be well known and flourish.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Contoured By Courtney story. Tell us more about the business.
My business Contoured By Courtney is a makeup/beauty/confidence enhancing business. I specialize in transforming peoples faces with a heavy or light makeover while boosting individuals confidence. I am most proud of the equipment we were able to get to benefit the clients and the new advertisement strategy. What sets me apart from other companies, I am affordable, I will travel to you if you can’t come to me, I will go the extra yard to make sure you are satisfied with your look and leave with a smile on your face. I always keep God in my business first, with him Contoured By Courtney will not fail.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next few years, I expect to be in a nice settled shop with a steady clientele, and host events for women that may be less fortunate.
