Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Lewis.
Dana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I boarded my first flight in December 2013 after my husband said something to me that changed the course of my life forever… “If you want to go, just go.” I had been going on and on to him about wanting to fulfill my lifelong dream of going to New York City. With that small bit of encouragement, I became addicted to traveling and seeing more of this beautiful world we call home. After that we went on several vacations together, creating amazing itineraries and wonderful memories. Of course, I shared my new-found passion on Facebook. From that, family & friends encouraged me to become a travel agent. At first, I scoffed at the idea, but it just kept pulling on my heart. I finally gave in, and started my journey as a travel designer, as I like to call myself, in the Fall of 2015. Since, I have helped countless couples and families plan and book memorable honeymoons and vacations, been on over 30 flights myself, and found my life calling. I’m incredibly grateful to my clients and the growth my business has found, as now I have the upmost pleasure to work from home and spend my days with our twins. That passion has morphed into more than I’d ever dreamed it could be!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been struggles along with the way in my business. In the first year or so, I wondered if it would ever even become something. It is scary to start a business, and I have no doubt been blessed. Now that it is ever-growing, I struggle with juggling work from home life and family life.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Discovereighng with Dana Travel – what should we know?
Discovereighng with Dana Travel is a home-based travel agency specializing in romance and family travel. I work with clients to build, plan, and book their dream vacations, honeymoons, and destination weddings from the beginning stages all the way to arriving back home adding personal touches along the way. I am most proud of the passion that I have for my clients and their vacations, and that they can feel and appreciate it. That intense passion is what sets me apart from other travel designers and online vendors.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I say it all the time, but my husband has been my absolute number 1 cheerleader! I am a huge introvert, and without his support and encouragement, I never would have felt brave enough to do this! Now, I feel so empowered by this passion and business. Of course, my family, friends, and clients who feel like friends deserve so much credit! Without them, Discovereighng with Dana Travel would not be what it is today.
