Meet Daniel Henderson of Don Jerion in Farmers Branch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Henderson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Daniel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So growing up my brother was always “out there” and into the streets and stuff and I was the quiet one who was good in school. Later down the line when we got to high school, he was in and out of placement home and Juvi while I wasn’t doing as good in school anymore. I started to freestyle as a time passer with my friends who were already dabbling with the idea of music. I was really good fast so I took it a bit more serious. My brother was doing music full time just enjoying life. He was murdered at a party in Palmdale, CA. Since then I felt like expressing myself through music was my only outlet. I got more serious with music and started www.moremovesmade.com.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a bunch of ups and downs. I had a baby boy in January 2018 and since then life has been moving so fast and so slow at the same time. He’s my everything tho so that’s why I never give up. To give him a better life than I had growing up. I was homeless for about 4-5 years of my life, maybe more—I can’t remember. I’ve been in foster care and lived in a family van for a while. I’m just trying to make sure my boy is set up and never have to need anything.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I feel like I’m best at lyricism and just telling stories while making sense in my rhymes. I feel like nowadays more artists who emerge, especially rappers, all talk about nothing and just rely on a dope beat to propel them. I love the art of envisioning what you’re here and I try to incorporate that in my raps.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I guess I was shy and timid. I wasn’t the popular one by far. On the other end tbh. Lol. People knew me for being that weird, smart black kid when I went to Firebaugh and Lynwood High in Ca. When I moved to the antelope valley, people knew me as that quiet kid who was decent in basketball. Lol.
