Meet Danielle Alex of Kali Createz Cupcakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Alex.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is something that I wouldn’t believe that would become a passion for myself today. In college, I would make batches of cupcakes and cookies to support the clubs I was associated with.

Also, baking started becoming a way of surviving as a broke college student, who would need something sweet that would last them longer than a couple of days. Don’t get me wrong I loved to baked back in my college days, but I went to college to get my education, so I ended taking a gap period of not consistently baking like I use to.

Thus, moving from Southern California to Fort Worth, Texas in 2014, baking became the last thing on my mind. Fast forwarding to the summer of 2018, I had built a life in the DFW area, where my first client/friend asked me to make 50 cupcakes for her birthday, and since then I have had clients every week.

My passion and story come together because of the hard work my mother endured for me and her suffering. I bake cupcake and cakes to make my mother proud, and the blessings she left for me would not go in vain. Because of the friendships I have built, soo many people have supported me in every move I have made in the passion of baking.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
November 2014 my mother was diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer, making my family and work my only priorities in life. November 25, 2015, my mother lost her battle to cancer, all I can recall was leaving the hospital, going straight to her house and I started baking non-stop for two days straight.

I have not been a smooth road because once my mother passed away, my family didn’t appreciate me going back to school, working and trying to become an entrepreneur. So I never received the support from my family, but I have refused to let that hold me back.

As the biggest challenge right now, is that it is just myself from picking up supplies, delivering orders and the details that go behind in creating these creations.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kali Createz Cupcakes story. Tell us more about the business.
First off, what sets me apart from others is the people who support me and critique on what I can approve on, because of them, I get better and better over time.

Kali Createz Cupcakes is a business where I focus on your sweet indulgences, I specialize in Liquored Infused Cupcakes. But I also can do regular cupcakes for the little ones, cakes and lately my biggest seller has been chocolate covered strawberries.

What I am most proud of, is how far I have come because there were times where my motivation wasn’t there, and I would have to remember that I don’t just do this for me, but I do it for my mother.

My saying for my company is, “Live, Love, Bake Cupcakes.”

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
No role of luck, but because of the grace of God and faith has been the foundation of my work. God put me through a whirlwind of life in the past few years, and God has continued to protect me and gives me the faith to move forward.

I’ve known Danielle and her mother for years and was saddened when her mom lost her battle to cancer.

Danielle your mother was EXTREMELY creative and not only is she smiling down on you but I am very PROUD of your drive and determination. The good out of this is “Kali Createz Cupcakes” and I’m looking forward to the franchises. 😊. Congratulations and may God continue to Bless you.
